You stick to black as you put another $100 down. Joe moves to the left column of 12 but Sam stays on Odds.

"No more bets," the table runner says.

The roulette spins and the marble goes, and...

"25."

"Yes!" both Joe and Sam say.

You're the only loser as 25 was another red, but is Odd and on the left side. They make back what they lost but you're down a bit.

"Well, third time's the charm," you say to Raven.

You stay on black but put $50 this time. Sam switches it up by doing Even, and Joe returns to the middle column.

"No more bets," the table runner says.

The marble goes again and...

"20," they say.

Now all three of you win because 20 is also black. But you're personally still down from the first loss.

"So, Sam," you say. "What was your role during the war?"

"I helped with the supply chain," Sam says. "I made sure everything got where it needed to."

"Well, then I should thank you for getting what we needed," Joe says. "I was part of a big unit on the front lines."

"Well, you boys did the real work," Sam says.

You see the respect in each man's eyes, and admire that.

"Now, Bonnie, baby," Sam says to her. "How about you choose the number for me this time?"

"Oh, um, okay," she says nervously.

"Yeah," Joe says. "Choose the final number for us, Bonnie dear."

"O-Oh, um..." Bonnie says, even more nervous. "Oh! Let's go with zero!"

"Zero...?" they both say.

"Yeah, zero," she says. "That's really hard to get, right?"

"Yeah," Joe says. "Very hard."

"Then you'd both make a lot of money, right?" Bonnie says.

"Yeah," Sam says with a nod. "A lot."

"Then okay!" Bonnie says. "Let's go with zero!"

Sam and Joe reluctantly put money on the zero spot. Admittedly, it's no more difficult than precisely guessing any one of the other 36 numbers. It's just a very unique space that covers a lot of categories, since zero is neither even or odd and is colored green, not red or black.

You don't have anything to actually lose, so you also put money down on zero.

"No more bets," the table runner says.

The marble is sent and Bonnie is confidently smiling. You all wait anxiously and...

"Zero!" the table runner says while everyone cheers.

"A 35 to 1 payout," you say as your $50 turns into $1,750, and each of the soldiers' $100 turns to $3500. "That's a good round."

"Did you know that was going to happen?" Raven asks Bonnie quietly.

"Well, I remember it happening at some point," Bonnie says. "Guess this is that same day."

"Good guess," Raven says.

"Alright, Bonnie, let's go party," Sam says as he holds up his chips.

"I think it's up to Bonnie who she parties with," Joe says.

"Well, uh," Bonnie says. "Maybe we just all relax, have some fun. Y'know, together."

"I'm not sure how well that's going to work," Raven mutters.

"At the very least, let's move on from gambling," you say.

"How about a drink?"

"Yes!" Bonnie says. "I could definitely use one right now."

Bonnie takes Joe arm-in-arm and leads the way. Sam follows them and you go arm-in-arm with Raven at the rear.

"Rorek, we can't drink," Raven says. "Both because we're underage, and also because we're not really in the 40's."

"Both of those are actually reasons we can," you say. "It'll be playing pretend."

Raven raises an eyebrow at you but still follows.

The bar of the Silver Clover is very roomy but also rather dimly lit. Bonnie goes right to the bar and gives the bartender Sam's and Joe's usuals. It is surprising that she remembers something like that, but she seems to be remembering more and more being back in this time.

"What'd you two like?" the bartender asks.

"The lady will have a cranberry mimosa," you say, "and I will have a..."

"Scotch whisky, neat, two fingers."

The bartender nods and gets the appropriate glasses.

"How do you know about scotch like that?" Raven asks.

"My grandfather, who I'm pretending to be in the first place," you say.

"Well alright. But do you really think I'm a mimosa kind of girl?"

"I don't know," you shrug. "But I think it'll be something you'll like."

Raven raises an eyebrow at you as you sit and wait at the bar together. Your scotch is served in a short but wide glass, partially filled with amber liquid while Raven is served a champagne glass full of red-violet liquid.

"Ooh~," she says, seeing the drink. "Well, it does look nice."

"Thank you," you say as you lift the glass in a salute.

You sip, but because this is just a projection into the past, you don't really taste anything. It's not even like water, it's just a meaningless liquid on your tongue.

"That's good Scotch," you say as seriously as you can.

"A mimosa?" Bonnie says. "Maybe I should try one. How is it?"

"Good," Raven says, playing along. "Definitely tastes like cranberries."

You and Raven stay seated at the bar but Bonnie sits at a nearby table with Joe and Sam.

"Do you think we're at all close to the day it happened?" Raven asks. "Bonnie's death."

"I can't be sure," you say. "Her passing away so young, it could be this day, it could be in a few days. Even if we don't figure out the mystery of her death, at least we gave her back some of her life."

"Yeah," Raven says. "She does look fairly happy."

You look over and Bonnie is sharing a laugh with Joe and Sam. It seems the two soldiers are easing up on fighting over her. At least, for now.

Raven chugs down her mimosa since it doesn't really matter. You still take your time with the scotch. It's in character to take your time and enjoy the drink.

Bonnie walks over, carrying the glasses for the boys. She has the bartender give them all another round.

"I really do need to thank you," Bonnie says to you and Raven. "This has really been a lot of fun."

"Well, you're welcome," you say.

"I wish this could last forever," she says. "But I'm pretty sure we're almost out of time, huh?"

"Just about," you say. "Is there anything you want to say to Sam and Joe?"

Bonnie looks back at the two men as they sit at the table. They both look over at her and smile.

"No," Bonnie says. "This is good enough. I'd probably just mess it up."

You nod and sip more of the scotch. The world starts to fade away except for you and Raven, and after you blink, you're back in the hotel's pool house, Raven at your side, both of you back in your swimsuits.

"So, Bonnie," Raven says. "Do you want to try again?"

You and Raven look up but you don't see Bonnie floating above you. You look around but she's not anywhere to be found.

"Can you sense her?" you ask Raven.

"No," she says. "I think... I think she moved on. Like, to the other side."

You take a moment as that sinks in.

"Wow," you say. "That's... Wow."

"Yeah," Raven says with a small smile.

The two of you stand in the silence for a moment, taking it all in together.

You dive back into the pool and swim to the center. You surface and look back at Raven.

"Come on in," you say.

"Really?" she says. "You still want to swim?"

"Why not?" you say. "It's still a bit warm out, we should cool off before going back to bed."

Raven thinks on it, and seems to agree because she goes to the edge of the pool and dives in. She swims up to you from below and surfaces behind you. You swim up to her and she smiles as the two of you circle each other.

"I feel really good," you say. "Don't you?"

"Yeah, I do feel good," she says. "I feel great, actually."

"That's great. We should feel great. We helped a ghost pass on to the other side."

"Yeah. That's incredible!"

Raven floats back and has a big smile. You smile admiring her smile, and stay close. The two of you swim to the far side and pull yourselves out.

"I think tomorrow," you say, "we should..."

"Try the spa."

"Oh really? Like what?"

"Well not the massage parlor," you say. "I'm not the jealous type but I don't want some random man touching your."

"It could be a female masseuse," she says.

"Hmm..."

"Okay, don't be weird about it," she laughs. "But thinking about it, I wouldn't want a female masseuse touching you, either."

"We'll go with the sauna," you say. "We'll have a good sweat to clean ourselves out and feel refreshed on the inside."

"Alright," she says. "When will we have our appointment with the sauna?"

"After breakfast makes the most sense," you say. "We'll get up, eat, and then relax in the sauna."

"Sounds good to me," she says. "But we're not going to get up that early, are we? We've had a long day."

"Yes, we'll sleep in," you chuckle.

You two leave the pool house and go back to your room. You dry off and brush your teeth before turning in for the night.

The next morning, after sleeping in, you and Raven wake up at 9:55 AM. You feel well rested as you get up and get dressed.

"What do you say to going out for breakfast?" you ask Raven.

"I dunno," she shrugs, still sitting on the bed. "Can you go get it?"

"What? Are you still tired?" you tease.

"A little," she says. "I like being in this swimsuit. Don't you like me being in my swimsuit?"

"I love you being in your swimsuit," you say.

"Then let me stay in it," she pouts while reclining back on her bed. "I like how the comforter feels on my skin."

Raven wiggles around and has a playful arch and bend to her back as she watches you.

"Alright," you say. "But in that case, let's take care of two things at once. While I go get breakfast, can you please ask reception about the sauna?"

"I will," Raven says as she stretches her legs. "Just another few minutes."

"Okay," you say. "Be back soon."

You head out and drive around town and find
