Not including the Famicom-exclusive game. It stinks that we didn't get that one.

Spider-Man & X-Men: Arcade's Revenge
Marvel's War of the Gems
Maximum Carnage
Spider-Man
Spider-Man and Venom: Separation Anxiety

I was worried War of the Gems would be pricey, but it turned out to be reasonable. If there are any others that I'd missed, let me know.

Maximum Carnage is high-tier for beat-em-up titles.

I bought Separation Anxiety the night that Steve Ditko died. I didn't plan it that way or anything. I just bought the game, beat the first level or so, and then read the news.

I see people constantly praise Maximum Carnage and feel like I'm crazy because I thought it kinda sucked. Looked cool at least.

Have we ever agreed on a single thing?

I haven't played War of the Gems in over 20 years.

Looking at the intro, it has a 1996 copyright date. This is probably one of the last licensed games on the SNES. I played through the Amazon level as Spider-Man and defeated the evil Wolverine clone boss. It was a lot of fun playing it again. It just makes me sad though that the X-Men arcade game never received a home port. I know that was Konami and not Capcom, but the gameplay is very similar. With a slight graphical downgrade and a few less enemies, that one easily could've been ported to the home console.

It is neat though to play this game again after all this time. So much as changed since then. None of the central heroes had live action movie adaptations at the time this game came out. Now, all five of them have had solo superhero movies: Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, and Wolverine. And the game itself is based off of the Infinity War storyline. It's just funny how relevant it is today.

Between it being a late release and a relatively obscure game, I was expecting it to be a *rare game* with a price tag of $80 to $100. I'm glad that wasn't the case.

By the skin of his teeth, Spider-Man defeats Thanos when Earth's other heroes had all fallen...

Thus ends War of the Gems.

It's a pretty fun game overall. The graphics are absolutely beautiful. They look like they could be 32 bit. The gameplay's alright. Some characters are better than others. Spider-Man's so much more capable than the other characters that he's kind of like Princess Peach in Super Mario Bros. 2. Still, it is a fantastic rendition of Spider-Man. He crawls, sticks to walls, shoots web, and leaps like a cat. I am a bit disappointed that Mary Jane Watson didn't receive a cameo after being mentioned in Spider-Man's bio. It is pretty impressive though how many Marvel characters did appear. Even Dr. Strange had a cameo. The MCU really makes this game more relevant than ever.
