You should be fine. Even if you get it, the chance of it being fatal appear to be slim. But definitely watch the little one. Maybe not take her if possible?

We are staying in the house but when it comes to going to Shanghai, we need to take her. Already have everything booked and don't want to leave one of us behind to stay with her.

It's not THAT widespread. You're more likely to get the flu. This is a bit deadlier than the flu but the mortality rate's not THAT high. I'm a little more concerned about a little one but chances are still small.

I would seriously weigh your daughters health into your decision, which might change in the next week with new information & safety precautions.

We ended up canceling the trip. Was originally going to go on my own via bus, meet my parents at the airport then take the train back but we found a flight leaving around 10pm. So, they'll have to spend about 6 hours in the airport but it saves me about 12 hours of travel time, $100 and it decreases our risk of being exposed (the train network is believed to be how it has mostly spread).

I feel really bad for my daughter though. Every day for the last month all she has been talking about is going to the museum to see dinosaurs with grandma and grandpa. Sucks for my parents as well because we had a lot of day trips planned but now we will all be stuck in my little 2 bedroom apartment for a month. Should be able to go out and do some stuff but have to avoid crowds.

Youre like 99% safe but better safe than sorry and wait it out a bit to see if gets any worse.

I think we will see the extent of just how bad this is in about 7-10 days. 14 day incubation period. 200,000 people left Wuhan before the quarantine was put into effect. Millions of migrant workers will begin traveling back to the big cities early next week.
