It's been going on for nearly two months now. Head of the union (and a few others) got arrested yesterday for violating a court injunction and blocking off access to the refinery entirely.
It's been quite the spectacle. I really do hope the workers win this, but their heavy-handed approach isn't winning them any friends. It would be quite the blow to workers as a whole (not just the employees there) if the refinery is able to strongarm them into making the concessions. The refinery was so well prepared for this strike though that without some drastic measures the lockout would last for a year or until the union gave up. I feel had for the police in particular. They hate getting involved in labour disputes, and they managed to not get involved other than occasionally having a police presence up until now. But completely bucking a court injunction and blocking railroad tracks leading to the refinery kinda forced their hand here, so they had to do something. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/blockades-up-again-at-co-op-refinery-1.5433520 --- Assassins do it from behind. ...
