Anyone lying needs to be held accountable, but its clearly not a simple subject. Warrens timing and demeanor is shady and had me believing 100% she was lying, but I dunno what to make of this audio. Bernies response is just weird.

Obviously she isn't going to be the nominee and she knows she has to endorse Biden for the sake of gaining favor with the party elite (just as she did last time with Clinton over Bernie). This allows her supporters a way to rationalize her not supporting Bernie. "She is progressive, but Bernie is a sexist and called her a liar, so it makes sense she would support Biden, I will stand with her too!"

I know some of you actually think Bernie could be the Democratic nominee, and I feel for you. He is a good dude and it sucks he can't win, but it's not even really the party's fault. Even if he could get all the progressive base on his side, Joe has the black vote locked down, and that's the most important voting demographic in the Democratic primary. And even the super white early states like Iowa and New Hampshire look like they will give Joe wins or near wins. He just can't be stopped and Warren is on a great path to eventually endorse him without major controversy now.

Idk I feel like there's room between "Let's hash this out on the debate stage" and "I'm mad at you for what you did and I'm not going to shake your hand", but I'm only basing this on similar situations I've been in which have not been nationally televised so I understand why people feel differently about it (e.g. "We're not going to have this fight in front of your family" didn't translate to "We're going to pretend like we're completely happy with each other")

But it doesn't matter. You're making a mistake of thinking things like policy, statements, etc. have a large impact on candidates. Most voters are low information and make their decision based on emotional factors. It doesn't matter which candidates are or aren't sexist. Biden hasn't been losing support among his key demographics over the last few months and he hasn't fallen out of the lead in the early voting states. The sexism angle only matters to the progressive voters Bernie and Warren are fighting over. It's a great angle for her supporters to justify her inevitable endorsement of Biden over Bernie. That Biden isn't remotely progressive isn't important, neither was Clinton, didn't stop Warren then, won't stop her now.

Although Biden leads all of them, once it gets into the South where black voters factor in he destroys them. This is the same path Clinton took and she even lost New Hampshire before running away with it, whereas Biden could feasibly win every single one of them.

My problem with it is that her actions make sense both if she's "telling the truth" (i.e. she believes it even if she is misconstruing the events) or if she's lying.

So you just have a bunch of people who weren't going to believe her over Bernie ever convincing themselves that this is MORE proof that she's lying about it, even though the savvy political huckster doesn't match with their previous assessments of her as being someone who was "dumb enough to get baited into a DNA test", etc.

It's a weird response. I mean...politicians call each other liars all the time and they lie all the time. So this "You rly called me a liar? Omgz" thing is weird. But did she have this weird response because he was lying and she's upset, or because she was putting on a show? No way to know really.
That said, I remain a Sanders supporter because Warren has always had a transparency/ credibility issue with her policies imo. I also try to base my vote on who I think will help the country the most instead of "he said/she said" nonsense.

Having Native DNA does not make you Cherokee or any other tribal member. That isn't how it works and white people need to stop with the I had a long lost Native ancestor routine. If you aren't a member of a tribe, didn't grow up in that culture, and don't appear Native you aren't Native and shouldn't be claiming such. It just makes things harder for actual Natives.

And there are tribal members with no genetically Native ancestors. It's a culture that you grow up in, not a checkbox. No one ever looked at Warren and thought she was anything but white. She never received discrimination and she never took part in Native culture. Even she now admits these things, so stop defending her past claims.

"The directory" was a social club thing that happened AFTER she was admitted. She did not use it to gain admission. Which is what I said if you actually read my whole post.
