They faded away to symbolize that because they had good in their heart and were force-sensitive they got to be part of the force and be Force ghosts. Which is also why Leia shows up at the end.

The saber she has at the end was explained by somebody in a tweet. The end of the staff that she has had since the first movie was actually a lightsaber. If you go back and look at older screenshots you can confirm its the same handle. I guess it was broken, and she fixed it? It's yellow because you get yellow by combining blue and red, IIRC.

Blue and red makes purple, bro.

Only 2 things? lol

They fade away because they give up their life forces to save others: Leia--her son Ben; Ben--his dyad partner, Rey.

I assumed Rey made her own lightsaber and that gold represented the confluence of every other color, or the absence of color into pure light.

With pigments, but not with light. (I don't know that they make yellow with light, either, though.)

A jedi can fade into the force when they die, I guess Leia couldnt rest and go to the force until Kylo Ren / Ben Solo was redeemed.

The yellow lightsaber was one Ray built. It seems like she used her staff as the handle for it.

Blue and red give you purple. You get yellow by combining blue and green, so I guess the yellow is a symbolic fusion of Luke's and Leia's lightsabers.

Edit: Never mind, it's red and green. I guess that throws that theory out, then.

When the blue and red lights mix, the result is magenta.

I guess magenta isn't technically purple but it's pretty close imo.

No... If you combine Red and Green, you get Yellow. If you combine Red and Blue, you get Magenta

Kyber crystals don't change color until they are attached to a "jedi". Yellow crystals generally formed for Jedi who had a good balance of scholarly wisdom and physical combat. Rey constructed it off screen.

Leia and Kylo became one with the force.

I honestly wouldn't read into the meaning of the color that much. They probably thought yellow was cool and unique, and any symbolic meaning purported by the writers/director is an after thought.

Yellow lightsabers are a thing in the Clone Wars cartoon. It's like asking the significance of blue or green. It's just a color.

I would imagine there's some lore to the colour yellow kinda like how most jedi have blue and green while all sith are red. It's a clear lore/design choice and not just coincidence, so maybe we will get insight or explanation to colours later

The current lore is that Jedi Temple guards have yellow sabers. But now it looks like the color isn't specific to Temple guards anymore.

I suppose the traditional Jedi Order are dead so whatever the new one is can use whatever color they want when they tune their Force crystal thing.

I recall the Sith manufactured their crystals to make their saber more powerful.

Anyway I wonder if one could use a diamond crystal and have colored lenses to change the color of their blade at will.

Like those flashlights that come with colored lenses.

Was her staff a lightsaber all along? I thought she converted it offscreen sometime after the Battle of Exegol & before traveling to Tatooine.
