You're right TC, everyone on the planet can afford an electric car because they are so insanely affordable to common people. I have 5 myself, but if its within 300 miles I just ride my bike and get there in 5 days.

If it's a tiny little 3-cylinder shoebox of a car, or maybe a bus, then sure.

You could just not go, you could always support them through the internet lol. Either way I hate stuff like this, it basically says its ok to be a hypocrite so long as its for a positive cause.

I mean, it's not like cars are a necessity. Yeah, it'd be hard to say "I'm not gonna use plastic straws anymore!" until there is a common viable alternative, but cars are entirely a luxury. Lots of people don't have cars for various, non-climate reasons and still live their life so it is hypocritical. If you drive a car to a climate protest you are 100% a hypocrite.

Life outside the internet is powered by that shit as well. You act like the internet doesn't have power, sometimes tweets are more powerful than anything that you could get started by gathering in one place.

It's a logical fallacy though. If Jeffrey Dahmer was to make a speech saying that human life is precious, it's not because he's a murderer that we can discredit his message and conclude that human life is not precious.

To be fair, TC never said to discredit the message, he said they were hypocrites. And Jeffrey Dahmer is still a hypocrite in your example

If you're anywhere wherein a bus or subway are viable, you are probably not traveling fifteen or twenty miles at a time, give or take maybe Europe.

I dunno where you live but I live in the suburbs and I can take the bus basically anywhere. Some combo of the three things I mentioned will get you where you need to go.

In a rural area yeah you probably need a car to go any significant distance but I'm sure everyone driving cars to climate rallies aren't coming from the sticks.

I guess, but I still don't like that shit. People use that same reasoning for so called neccesary evils like depending on the middle east for oil and having dealings with china while we know they use slave labor sweat shops with kids.

Most people will make excuses for why they are hypocrites. You see it in this thread and both in public and throughout the internet. Yes, you are a condescending hypocritical asshole if you are preaching about saving the environment, but you still use a bunch of things like a gas-guzzling truck or jet to travel. It does not mean your save the environment message isnt right to promote, but it will make it harder for others to take you seriously.

Just embrace it. I certainly have because I am not giving up driving, even though I do have one friend who bikes or runs everywhere. She is in phenomenal shape and I cant criticize her. But that shit looks hard and I like the convenience of owning a car.
