Soy is the worst. A lot of dystopian futures set as early as 30 years from now basically show a world where meat only exists for the super rich and the rest of the peasants just eat alternate product, usually soy like soy burgers or even soy fries.

Soybean sucks though so I hope the alternate meat product is literally anything else. Other kinds of beans, lentils, anything else would be fine.

We can just make meat in a laboratory if we literally can't slaughter without destroying the environment.

I don't mind eating meatless though, as long as it isn't tofu

They already tried making meat in a laboratory as seen in Better Off Ted. The results were... not pleasant.

what i would be more worried about is the possibility of mycoproteins replacing meat. it's basically "edible" fungus.
I mean, mushroom is a fungus, and mushrooms taste delicious for the most part, so I'm not sure we should be worried?

Unless pigeons and squirrels somehow go extinct in the next three decades, there will still be meat available.

They will probably figure out how to mass produce it in a lab before it becomes a problem. Their is no way goverment will make laws stopping ranchers from producing meat til then atleast. That would get people to instantly vote the politicians out. Enough people are paranoid about our water.

You've never been that good at explaining yourself. Why do you think it's not going away? We already know it's not sustainable as is.

I don't mind your feelings, but stop trying to claim false facts to support them. I'm pretty damn far from being a vegetarian, but I'll respect that it's possible. Sometimes difficult and boring, but possible.

I look forward to advances in cricket/grasshopper farming.

Way better feed to food ratio, emits minimal greenhouse gas, good nutritional profile.

Cows/chicken are better off producing milk/eggs.

You should look into how the egg and dairy industries rely on and support the meat industry. They dont exist in a vacuum.

and ffs, just go vegan. Why do you need to eat crickets?

These non-meat alternatives are all pumped full of unnatural stuff and things that our natural body chemistry doesnt accommodate. The stuff is full of estrogen, for example.

One other thing is that they are almost always unhealthier. They basically have to put so much crap into it to make it taste even somewhat edible, and its often the salt content.

To summarize the whole thing, its more expensive, its smells and tastes disgusting, its less healthy, and its full of all kinds of hormones.

My personal opinion? Follow the money. While I myself am omnivorous, I'm sure plant protein is cutting into the meat industry's bottom line.

GREAT point.

I recall at one point the dairy industry made the govt change the law so margarine was dyed orange in order to protect butter. The food industry is dirty dirty dirty.
