Some of the more radical vegans believe that any kind of animal exploitation is wrong, even if the animal is treated as well as possible.

I went whole foods plant based or vegan. At first it is difficult but it was trying to get enough calories from all my meals. After learning how to really cook and mix things, it became a lot easier, and the foods became more tastier.

Its easy to live without eating meat, and after a while on the my diet I'm so use to not grabbing meats, eggs, or eating anything related to milk that I don't even flinch. I do want to mention, I'm not a "hardcore vegan" so if I'm at a party I will eat whatever is provided, not say a word, and be content.

No I don't drink milk, mostly, almond milk, coconut milk, oat milk, etc.

I don't drink milk because it doesn't hurt a cow, I don't drink it because its not good for you and it doesn't do the body good.

As far as saving the animals, I never even though that far(I'm saddened by what happens to them) but, I do this diet because I feel better. Mental clarity, physical recovery after working out, and overall better quality of life.

I have a ton respect for vegetarians and am pretty cost to vegetarian myself, but am morally, ethically opposed to veganism.

I could go on a big, well-thought out tirade, if you're really interested, but only by request.

Ethical veganism is a "philosophical belief" and so is protected in law, a tribunal has ruled for the first time.
The landmark legal case was brought by vegan Jordi Casamitjana, who claims he was sacked by the League Against Cruel Sports because of his ethical veganism.
His former employer says he was dismissed for gross misconduct.
The judge ruled that ethical vegans should be entitled to similar legal protections in British workplaces as those who hold religious beliefs.

The BBC analysis on the ruling's effects:
Though a ruling from an employment tribunal does not amount to binding legal precedent, this one will have important and far-reaching effects.
Employers will have to respect ethical veganism and make sure they do not discriminate against employees for their beliefs.
So, for example, could a worker on a supermarket checkout refuse to put a meat product through the till?
The implications are considerable, not least because the legal protection will apply beyond employment, in areas such as education and the supply of goods and services.
It could also encourage others to seek similar protection for their philosophical beliefs.
While this is the first case concerning ethical veganism, a previous tribunal ruled that a strongly held belief in climate change amounted to a philosophical belief capable of protecting someone against discrimination in their employment.

My overall impression is that it basically always goes like this

Vegans: so yeah this is how I choose to live
Strange people on the internet: *spluttters incoherently with rage*

For myself, I'm not vegan but I think more and more about how animals live and the environmental impact of it all.

I know a few vegans. One of them was a Lebanese coworker who went on about how disgusting factory farming and agribusiness is and how she wants to move to Europe and maybe have a farm where she grows her own food(and raises it). Struck me as being somewhat conspiratorial, but not unhinged.
The other was my roommate, and she told me one day that she felt we were too cruel to animals, but also that everyone on her Dad's side had bad cholesterol and was fat and felt that not eating meat was good for her health(often that's a liver issue, but certainly avoiding additional cholesterol from eating meet would help matters). For the record, she was noticeably fuller than her skinny sister, but not fat.

Lastly, in relation to the latter vegan, I regularly attended a vegetarian potluck. You don't need meat to eat well, trust me on that. One of the guys who attended regularly was a chef and made absolutely ridiculously delicious vegan dishes.

Not a vegan myself but I know a lot of them protest the way farmers treat their animals. Like often they use machines to extract semen from male cows and forcefully inject it into female cows forcing them to get pregnant. After the calf is born, they are quickly separated and the mother is quickly milked at the time they can produce the most milk (after pregnancy.) Then the process repeats until the cows become steak.

Not saying all farmers do that but there are some bad ones that vegans hate.

You can get methylcobalamin too, as well as adenosylcobalamin. There are also B12 shots as well if anyone was really concerned about it. Not sure how vegan any of those are, lol.

Anyway, I still think it's fucked that after all these years we still have no clue what human beings are actually supposed to be eating. Dietary guidelines change greatly every 5-10 years or so, and people claim to do amazingly well on anything from an all fruit or vegetable diet to an all meat diet. It's nuts.

As far as I know milk isn't drank because it exploits cows. In order to get milk you force a cow to breed to have a calf. Then you take away the calf and constantly milk them. At which point they milk forever if you keep milking them. Supposedly the milking hurts if you don't do it constantly, and also they're supposed to naturally stop when the calf grows older. So basically you're taking their child away, and forcing them to make milk which hurts them. Oh also you keep injecting hormones occasionally to INCREASE milk production too. So now they're making even more milk than normal.

Basically I was told would you do this to a woman?

All of this hurts the cow and exploits them.

Honestly makes sense. I've asked what if you just had a cow that had a calf by normal means and raised a calf normally if you continued milking the cow normally and not when it was uncomfortable if it was fine. I was still told it was unethical because normally the cow stops. On this part I sort of disagree. But ehh there's a lot of moral stuff here.

I've been vegan for two years. I'm a Texan and half Mexican, so meat and cheese were a huge part of my diet for most of my life. It started out as a health thing, so now I mostly eat a whole food, plant-based diet with junk food a few times a month.

It was a big change at first but it was easy to stick to, especially when presented with the reality of all animal agriculture that is in direct opposition to my view of myself as an avid animal lover.

Beyond diet, I don't use any hygiene products or clothing with animal derivatives in them. The last thing I wore with animal was a leather belt that I had for ten years. I wore it until it broke and replaced it with a cloth one. The most difficult change was trying to find a vegan deodorant that worked for me. I'm a big, sweaty guy in a very hot/humid climate, so I needed a deodorant/antiperspirant that could handle the job. I found one and it has been pretty good.

At this point, I'm not sure that there is anything I can avoid that I haven't already. I also have moved to an overall less wasteful lifestyle. I started riding a bike and walking more. I don't get unnecessary plastic at the stores or anything like that. I don't wantonly consume for the sake of consumption anymore.
