First off, it's shitty to make jokes about tragedies.

Second, the very, very vast majority of kids who are quiet or "weird" in school are that way because they have anxiety, or it's their personality, not because they want to harm anyone.

Thankfully I went to school before this horrible recent string of shootings happened. But if kids thought I was dangerous just because I was quiet, it would've really bothered me.

TL;DR: Making jokes about the quiet kid shooting up schools is shitty and I bet kids these days get bullied for it.

I gave him the nick name of LK (told him in honor of LittleKuriboh)
but it was just so i could call him Loner Kid to his face.

Yeah, some people are weird. Many gamefaqs.gamespot.com posters were probably the weird kid growing up. They still shouldn't be grouped in with violent monsters.

Reminds me of when The Onion TV show did a sketch where the popular captain of the football team shot up a school and killed the shy and quiet loner kid, and the faculty called him a hero.

I can't count how many times I've heard "you always have to watch out for the quiet ones" or some variation. School, work, parties, everywhere I go. I know it's usually said as a joke...how about a new joke though. 20+ years of the same joke isn't fun anymore.

It gets pretty old really fast. And I have no intention of doing anything violent, or even firing a weapon in my life.

When the Virginia Tech shooting happened, people were saying I looked like the shooter, and was talking about how quiet people like me held in all their anger and exploded. Truth was I had a lot of anxiety at the time, and was depressed and scared at the time. Not angry at anyone.

I was quiet because of anxiety. My body literally would visibly shake when I tried talking to people, especially girls. I also had some speech issues.

In my senior year of high school, I had an issue that resulted in me getting suspended from school for a month. Stemmed from how I posted a picture on Facebook, it was a gun with my text saying "This isn't me." Because I'm not white, my school called me a terrorist. I learned about that because they sent a school-wide notice about it.

The jokes were fucking stupid and I hated them.

The really fucked up thing is I did respond physically multiple times to bullying for being quiet and assholes still kept doing it and making jokes. It's like they wanted me to actually snap and kill them all. It was so wrong.

I had a teacher in high school (junior year) think I was one of those and they brought it to my parents attention somehow and they sent me to see a psychologist

I did counseling for like 2 months but the psychologist basically concluded that there wasn't anything wrong with me and that I just had a hard time relating to my peers due to different interests and levels of thinking.

Looking back, I actually consider it part of one of the most positive experiences of my life. That year in school, I changed my entire perspective on life and how I saw my place in the world (hard to say how much the counseling contributed to that). I also had an...awakening...to a strong sense of empathy and being able to pick up on what is going on with other people. I actually ended up making many friends and having a lot of fun in my senior year since I was able to incorporate all of that into how I relate to people (something I continue to build off of and develop to this day)

I used to get those comments at school and still do rarely as an adult. I live and grew up in a country where getting a gun as a kid would be hard, so it's not so much the school shooter stereotype just a general judgement and assumption that I'd be violent. I defended myself at school from violent bullies but outside of that I've never been violent. It's even worse when not only are you quiet but people learn that you're mentally ill. I had an ex girlfriends family and friends try to stop me from seeing her because I'm quiet and have mental health issues and they were worried for her safety. I wish they had stopped me because she ended up beating and hurting me multiple times and seriously sexually assaulting me. But I'm the danger because I'm quiet and weird and the popular girl with the busy social life needed protection.
