Personally, I paid 60 dollars for Sword and I did not regret the purchase at all since I greatly enjoyed it, I will gladly pay another 30 for more content.

Its really sad to see Gamefreak abusing DLC like this, they literally cut out a large amount of pokemon so they can sell their return post the game launch.

tbf, there's a free update that allows people without the expansion to either trade for the pokemon or bring them into the game through home.

If the expansion pass replaces the whole 3rd version that is the same game but slightly improved then it's not that bad. I still need more information about the actual content in the pass, but atm it looks like a solid addition.

Not a big fan. I didn't think I would miss the endgame content, but I kind of did for the first time in a Pokemon game. I trained a second team up to level 50, but it didn't feel balanced at all the second time through. I had a brief period where I got into EV stuff, but eventually I just dropped the game like a sack of shit.

If the DLC goes over well, I'll consider getting it. Otherwise I'm fine for the time being.

There's 2 new areas coming with the expansion pass. If both are Delta episode quality content that we got for ORAS post game than it's probably going to be worth it with all the other features:
move tutors, more pokemon, more customization options, making apricorn balls, more galar forms and gigantamaxes.

I don't understand how people can be excited for this. They spent 20 minutes showing us concept art, said "Give us $30, trust us." and everyone is celebrating?

And I fucking love Pokemon. I've been a gigantic Pokemon fan my entire life, going back to Gen 1. But I just don't get how fans keep lowering their standards and accepting less and less content from each release.

Tbh if all you care about are the Pokemon then you don't need the expansion. You can get them through trades.

Anyway, even if this is the most lolworthy gen to start having DLC, I'm actually glad they're doing it now. I think people would've been more pissed if they released a full-price updated version/sequel that still didn't have a NatDex.

No, they did not cut Pokmon so they can sell them to you later. They are free.

I never played pokemon as a kid. First time I played it I was in high school, and the GBA had been out for several years.

But anyway, when I say "millions of kids" I'm not talking about myself. I'm simply extrapolating out the experiences of those around me. I knew three people who would have been kids at the time off the top of my head who did this, and only two others who have ever mentioned playing Pokemon RBY, so you do the math.

My experience is that most people buying both versions are adults and longtime fans. Kids are kids. They have siblings and school friends in most cases where they can play together.

I'm not denying that there's going to be some cases where there only way you could complete the Pokedex is to own two Gameboys & games and a kid who had those things but there's a lot of qualifiers here you're assuming.

1. The kid was able to afford all of it (lots of kids & their parents can't, tragic as it is the average person isn't as well off as the average Pokemon enthusiast)
2. The kid actually wanted to complete the pokedex (to this day I have never completed a Pokedex or raised any Pokemon to level 100)
3. The kid was also in a location with no easy access to other playing fans.

I don't think "buying two copies of the game" conspiracy is as widespread as people on the internet make it out to be and it's mostly older people.
