My dumb coworker keeps telling people that her boyfriend is Mexican, so they celebrate on Christmas Eve. She really believes this is strictly a Mexican thing. I'm like wtf are you talking about.

My family is Irish and we've always done Christmas Eve. It's a very common thing.

I'm white and my family always exchanged gifts on Christmas Eve, but we usually had a ham on Christmas Day too. Eve was like a dessert-only thing in the evening, then on Day everyone would get together around noon and start cooking.
