And I gotta say, I am an old school gamer from the 80s, know everything about NES games, but i NEVER heard this song until a couple years ago, when it started getting used in memes. I personally am a fan of Gaur Plains from Xenoblade Chronicles 1, though there are a ton of great video game songs throughout history. Tim Follin was a fucking wizard when it came to retro game music. He made the NES sound like it had twice the sound channels that it actually did by clever engineering and using the different channels in ways they weren't typically used. For example in the Silver Surfer soundtracks, he made it sound like there was a seperate channel for the bass and the drum kicks by using a different sound channel and downshifting the pitch so quickly that it sounds like a thump and then by just timing the bass channel correctly it sounds like they are played in the same channel.
