Sadly this theory is completely plausible nowadays.

Don't release the good version first and release a little bit longer version a onth later and then the DC later in the year.

DLC has come to theaters.

Not only that, he suggests that while there will be a new cut released in theatres with ~20 extra minutes of footage, there will also be a 3rd cut released on DVD/blu-ray/digital thats even longer, lol.

To be fair, it felt like a lot of important things were cut from the movie. But I dont know if thats the fault of executives chopping it down or JJ and Chris Terrio being sloppy writers.

The actual deleted scenes that have been talked about from the people who worked on the movie seem to be;
- Palpatine explaining how he is alive
- Dominic Monaghan having more scenes in the movie. Specifically the final battle
- I think maybe Lando saying his daughter was kidnapped was a part of a leak a few months ago so that was probably deleted too

A lot of the other stuff is probably bullshit.

It's the definitive edition with the dlc packaged in with the film. You gotta watch it again or you're missing out on the complete experience.

Whether the cut exists or not, it was definitely rushed and yes, the fault does lie with Kennedy considering so many directors she's had issues with. Some of you seem to defend her just because she's a woman, which is really weird.

We were definitely still trying to figure out a lot of stuff, Brandon said about the sped-up editing process. Its a struggle. It affected everything. About a third of the way through, [Lucasfilm president] Kathy [Kennedy] was like, JJ has got to spend more time in the cutting room. And I knew that wasnt going to happen. Not with the schedule that we were on. Not with what he was dealing with on a daily basishe was just exhausted at the end of the day.

They overworked them. You'd think, after JJ being responsible for one of the highest grossing movies in history with TFA, they'd be a little more flexible.

I doubt Kathleen Kennedy would have been able to delay the movie until 2020 which is probably the only thing that could have made the movie slightly better.

But there's way more stuff going on behind the scenes that we don't really know about anyway. Maybe one day we'll get the whole behind the scenes story of the ST but I doubt it.

Look, I do think the film was rushed and they probably wound up cutting too much to make it fit into a shorter time. And Honestly I never thought it was Kethleen Kennedy pushing for this, but rather the executives.

In any case I did think there were good things in the movie and it would have benefited a lot if things had time to breathe. Assuming the longer cut had that, it definitely could be better.

Of course this is JJ Abrams we're talking about so the longer cut could very well be MORE stuff crammed in.

Snyder definitely gets brought up and Geoff Johns to a lesser extent. Snyder was the head of the DCEU vision till he left and still is a producer on future DCEU stuff and he was shitted on way worse than Kennedy ever was.

Regardless, Amy Pascal is most definitely brought up for Sony and Kevin Feige is almost always brought up for the MCU. So though you might not see Sean much, the point still stands and is no different.

First off, movies have gotten delayed, and it would be up to KK to best communicate that to higher ups.

What we do know is that Trevorrow pitched 9 to KK, Horn and Iger, but it was later KK who fired him after Jack Thorne left.

There's rumors it was because he was difficult to work with, but there's also rumors that they couldn't agree on the script and rumors that he wanted to keep Luke for 9.

Coming off also firing the Solo dudes and now knowing that D&D had the same exact issue and also left before it got too bad, maybe the president might the problem.

Firing him is the reason the delays were caused. Regardless, my point was flexibility on what had to be cut. Considering JJ landed them one of the biggest movies ever, it's not really a big thing to consider.

Clearly we get our info from different places because everything I heard was about Trevorrow being thrown off by Fischer's death and couldn't make the script work within the frame of time that Disney gave him.

I don't think the Game of Thrones guys were fired. Netflix paid the big bucks to get them so they left.

It's entirely possible that all of the production issues gave them incentive to leave though. As far as I know the only movie of the entire Star Wars Disney output that has had a smooth production is The Last Jedi funnily enough.

I remember Marvel had similar issues with Avengers 2 and Ant-man but they managed to learn from that and grow in a big way.

Kennedy has a hell of a career and resume so it makes sense why she was chosen. But it is most certainly possible that she has an older school mentality that isn't really gelling well with Star Wars. It'll be interesting to see what happens from here on. The interesting thing about the franchise at the moment is there's a lot of focus on keeping the EU stuff consistent and linked but the people behind the movies seem to be able to do whatever they want.

D&D said they left because they weren't being giving the control they needed. Lord and Miller were fired because they felt the same in terms of the comedy and because of Kasden and Kennedy. She got rid of them and brought Ron Howard, and the movie absolutely bombed.

I doubt a JJ cut would be much better. It might have a few more scenes explaining some of the loose ends the theatrical curt left us with, but the 'damage' done to the ST is way too deep for a different cut to fix.
