Why don't people just choose to only get as sick as their budget allows?

This is why we should deal with the massively inflated prices before any kind of Medicare for all
Ideally, the medical system would be entirely removed from the rest of the financial sector, and capitalism in general

What are you even arguing any more?

I'll do it until you admit you were wrong about M4A not being a third party transaction. I can make it easier for you though:

In this scenario a first party (patient) buys a service from a second party (doctor) but a third party (insurance company) is actually paying. The doctor can charge what they want because the patient isn't paying, their healthcare is covered by the third party. But M4A solves this, right?

In that scenario a first party (patient) buys a service from a second party (doctor) but a third party (government) is actually paying. The doctor can charge what they want because the patient isn't paying, their healthcare is covered by Medicare.

Wait, that's exactly the same thing because it doesn't matter if you're paying taxes to the government or premiums and co-pays to an insurance company, all insurance is a third party transaction. I'm not "defending" a $2000 co-pay anymore than you're defending Medicare which cost over twice as much as that per person. In fact Medicare and Medicaid are so expensive that US public spending on healthcare is higher than in countries like the UK and Canada even though only a fraction of people in the US get coverage from public insurance.

You really don't have to get yourself into these stupid situations every day.
