If my nation can muster up a collective memory of more than a year and a half, we'll vote the fuckers out with any luck.

You are really, really optimistic. No, the Murdoch rags will throw up some bullshit nonsense in 2022 that will distract the population for just long enough, and theyll eat it gladly and ask for more.

Optimism's all I have. I've put up with every election spill since Rudd, I've dealt with Tony Abbott's bad faith arguments in parliament before we made that onion chewing bitch our PM, I've seen arguably the most moderate Liberal in years get fucked over by Peter Dutton and replaced with an evangelical little shithead who somehow - SOMEHOW - won an unwinnable election despite being a blusterous little prick who was all talk, no action.

I can't just pack my bags and move to New Zealand. So instead, I'm hard on the government for their many mistakes, and I'm optimistic that like me, Australia will remember this entire debacle as a black mark on that egghead little shit's record. He doesn't know how to lead, he just talks up his political party while towns burn and people suffer. He's always working the PR angle for the Liberal party, and it has never been more clear than in the last few weeks. For my own peace of mind, I need to believe that enough rational, sane Aussies will hold this against him until it's time to throw the fucker out on the street.

To be fair, I thought the effects of climate change for Australia would have been submerging over burning. But yeah, I wish everyone well. I have a close friend that lives there. She said it's definitely smokey in Melbourne... :(

The government of Australia has utterly failed its citizens
that's what happens when its weak kneed leaders bow to global warming nonsense policies and didn't take the preventive measures of brush fire control yearly before this disaster.

What the fuck are you talking about? The Liberal party refuses to come to the table on climate change specifically because they think it's a leftist issue. Scott Morrison, at best, is a climate change downplayer who mentions "climate change" only if it's followed by "as well as many other factors which are equally culpable". Climate change needs to be taken into account because for every degree of extra warmth, bushfires become more and more likely. Our fire chiefs are saying it, including the guy who was in charge during Black Saturday. But the Liberal party will only say it if forced, and they'll instantly try and brush over it. They're doing everything in their power not to bow to it, because Scott Morrison is a coal-loving buffoon.

Backburning and clearing has been lacking, though - I'll give you that. But funnily enough, backburning became mired in a lot more red tape in the last few years - i.e. while the Liberal party has been in power.

No. Even heat that bad (up to 1500F btw) won't boil you because it turns out boiling a huge lake or Bay is pretty much impossible for a bushfire to accomplish.
