Here is my invention idea. Have an adapter between the router and the power cord which use the power from the cord. When the router starts acting up, send bluetooth command off to device and it shuts down then turns back on the router. Reset the router remotely.
Anything like that out there?

You could do it remotely rather than get up and unplug it.

Most routers let you do that through their app nowadays.

Aside from that, smart outlets have been a thing for a while now too, and can function if it's just the internet on the fritz and not the wi-fi signal itself.

I recall seeing something like a smart plug geared towards routers specifically. If I remember right, it connects to your WiFi and pings a website periodically. If it fails a certain number of pings, it will cut itself off and back on.

Are you talking about running through the internet browser and resetting from there?
That is a bit of a pain to do.

You could automate something to do this with a smart plug that doesn't operate over WiFi (Z Wave or something similar).

Have a device like a Raspberry Pi that periodically pings something reliable like 8.8.8.8, and if it fails X amount of times in a row, power cycle the smart plug.

No, most current routers have a phone app you download to set it up.

The smart switches also run through an app.

Everything is app nowadays.
