The camera is placed at or near ground level, pointed horizontally or maybe slightly upward, and a character, who is offscreen at a higher elevation/in a vehicle, steps just in front of the camera so their foot is visible.

I've seen it enough times that I suspect there's a name, but I'm not sure what it would be.
