Every time you start it up, it says this game was made by a diverse team filled with different gender identities and sexual orientations...

Ok? Great... that probably applies to every game, but only Creed feels the need to give us that disclaimer.

Honestly it reads like a CYA to head off complaints about the being unfair to different religions or country's historical figures.

This

it started off as a "please dont be mad at us Muslims " as the first game was set during the crusade

Now they do it as just a one all "please dont be mad at us whatever group tends to get mad online right now"

Still waiting for the opening of Ass Creed Armageddon where they say it was made by a team of furies and otherkin

Saddest part Is they still failed. SJWs got mad at Odyssey for saying the hero had a kid because that means they cant be fully gay.

Yes people were legitimately mad about that

Why do they care? I guess it's because i'm not in the business of making money, but if i made a video game/book/etc, i wouldn't give two craps who I offend, even if it means sales

Because the publisher cares. They are quick to burn anyone who makes a mistake or says something off color. Appealing to the vocal minority is always on the plate. Look at how much of their collective dick that JK Rowling gobbled over the years, and how fast they turned on her.

Philanthropy is the future of marketing

If you look like a douchebag a lot of people will stop giving you money.

So everyone makes a token effort to pretend not to be douchebags

They started that with the very first game, largely because it casts Muslims and Christians in a relatively bad light.

Ive asked this question for years now.
Apparently inorder to enjoy the game we need to know the sexual orientation of the people making the game even though it has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
We dont need to know Jan in accounting likes eating snatch or that Bob in design loves the cock.

Yeah, the religion disclaimer made sense because it could offend people. This new disclaimer has nothing to do with the game.

And by appealing to to minority that doesn't buy your game anyway, you piss off the majority that does, but won't in the future. Now your future game flopped because neither side bought it.

People aren't going to not buy Ass Creed 25 because they said some gay dudes and atheists worked on it

The past decades of ass creed games proves it

So the reason you're complaining is because they added "sexual orientation and gender identities" to the already existing statement?

Does it bug you to be reminded of that?

Does it bug you to know that there are a lot of gay and trans people who play video games?

The statement doesnt need to be there. Everyone plays and makes video games. It doesnt need to be said. It lists the names of the creators in the credits. If people were that curious about their lives, they could call up the dev studio and ask to speak to each specific person and question them about their beliefs and sexual preferences.

It wasn't added. They replaced the disclaimer about religion with something entirely irrelevant. I just don't see the purpose of it.

I was thinking more about Syndicate for transgender, although Odyssey most definitely has sexual orientation themes. And the religious stuff is all mythological so it's not really in the same ballpark as early AC games using actual historical religious figures. You literally fought the Pope in AC2

That's not really a point so much as just being ignorant about the issues surrounding diversity in media. Video games in particular have a bad reputation in that regard

The new disclaimer basically reads as "hey, if you find something in this game offensive, at least know that someone like you was involved in the creative process". It heads off the common and often warranted complaint that group xyz wasn't even consulted over an the offending issue.

I personally think it sorta reads like "I have a black friend" and if something was truly offensive having a diverse staff doesn't make that less so. But it certainly shouldn't bother you.

To some extent, politics have always been a part of video games. A lot of 80s arcade games released in America could be defined as "defeat the Ruskies" or "revenge for Vietnam." A decade later, and on the other political end of the spectrum, Super Mario RPG had some definite anti-war themes.
