The only way to know this is if you come up with unexpected or missing heritage (even this wouldn't be 100% indicative though) or if your grandfather or one of his siblings or that sibling's kids/grandkids also had their DNA tested and it doesn't connect you.

E: Not only that, AncestryDNA can't pull up exact relations anyways, it does everything as "cousins". For example my aunt (mother's sister) is my closest match, but she's still only listed as "Close Family - 1st Cousin", and my Great-Aunt (dad's mother's sister) is only listed as "1st - 2nd Cousin".

my grandma was adopted so her side of the family is a mystery. The ancestry thing said it matched my family tree to a relative that is a grandpa based on my dad side. And my grandpa passed away so unsure how it linked it. Maybe it inferred from a family tree from a distant relative but it wont let me see who it thinks it is.

i dont have any contact with my dads side of the family other than a few hello with my father who sends me inappropriate memes like im his homie .

I only recently reestablished a relationship with him few years ago

Id say this. My grandpa isnt my biological grandpa either but he may as well be. I never really knew my biological grandpa and never cared to. Blood doesnt really mean anything.
