Always glad to hear that someone enjoyed DQ VI...! It's my second favorite game in the series, personally!

Top 3 Dragon Quest game imo and best hero

This is the least surprising swordz post ever made

Its not my fault it felt like a game that needed a few more years of development

i think the only bad games i've played this year are ones i only played through some kind of service, or games i thought would be bad going in (like god of war or the horizon zero dawn dlc) but they were cheap enough and i was curious enough that i had to know, so i think i've had a pretty okay year all things considered? biggest regrets would probably go to games i bought at full price and still haven't finished i guess, like sekiro or cold steel 3

oh wait actually no, the answer is jedi fallen order, a game i didn't pay much money for because it was on ea access premier but disliked a great deal (terrible performance even on my good pc, some of the worst souls combat i've encountered). only real positives were the humour, some of the story stuff at the end and the continued (excellent) typecasting of debra wilson, antifascist organizer and all around shit-disturber. that game should've been so much better. respawn did me dirty.

It didn't actually

But there was zero chance you wouldn't hate the ultra popular Zelda game

Lol what?

I can understand complaints about the choices made regarding the weapon system and the lack of dungeons

Ive never seen ANYONE complain that it needed more polish.

I dont hate any game due to its popularity or lack of popularity. Its like a big sandbox with a LoZ skin. It looks pretty, but is incredibly lacking in a lot of regards.

It needs a few more years is an utterly bizarre thing to say about any game.

Thats an entire game, dude.

Even if I didnt have problems with the story, characters and some poor voice acting I dont see how anyone can be happy with the bosses of this game. Nearly every single one of them has the same exact weakness. The world is also incredibly lacking in enemy variety and most of the exploration is finding 1-3min shrine puzzles or dumb Koroks

See those are reasonable complaints. But thats how they wanted to design it.

More development time wouldnt change those things

And for what its worth I actually quite liked the game up until finishing my first Divine Beast. Up to then all that really annoyed me was the constant rain, lightning, weapon durability and stamina wheel. I guess some of the voice acting too, but there hadnt been a lot of it up to then. The only thing I knew going into the game is what the art style looked like and that there were 4 important characters because of those amiibos.

i don't think anyone really takes issue with you not liking botw

just that your criticism of "this game that took most of a console generation to develop should have taken the length of an entire console generation" is a bit off

also I like that BotW was a sandbox game that didn't overwhelm you with things to do

it let me focus on a select few things and it didn't feel like this game I could never ever possibly finish

I dont know how long they spent developing it in fairness. The last console LoZ I played was TP and I still havent played most of them yet. It just didnt feel like a finished product to me, but if thats how they intentionally designed the game I dont even know what to say. It might not have felt so bad though if I hadnt just finished 2 other games that also felt unfinished (KH3 and Pokemon Sword/Shield)

This year, the only gaming purchase I truly regret was Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes.

So bad I stopped playing it after the second "game" with the murder mystery.

Your argument kinda just sounds like you don't personally like the game but you're trying to call it unpolished and unfinished in order to argue it's objectively bad for some reason

Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Pokemon Let's Go Eevee. The first one is not my cup of tea at all but I wanted to try it out. The second one I knew I was probably not going to like but bought it out of the hype of buying a new Pokemon game. Ended up returning it and another game to buy Sekiro.

Thats not how I mean for it to come off and I dont think its a bad game. It just couldve been so much more. The main quests are short and few in number.

There is such heavy emphasis on freedom and exploration that I feel like it came at the cost of everything else because the plot is weak with lots left up to your imagination and nearly all of the characters are one note and forgettable.

They just put you in this massive world and give you no reason to care about the cast or story in it and because a lot of the exploration is terrible (imo of course) its just something I felt was a lacking experience all around.

I dont think I specifically used unpolished though others did and I didnt exactly disagree when they said it, but I do feel the game was unfinished. I guess this just wasnt the game I thought it was gonna be in my first 10~ or so hours. It just feels like they took the most bare minimal approach with everything that wasnt wandering around the vast empty world. If it was actually exciting I might not have minded quite as much...

Super Mario Party. Most of the boards are trash, which is super awful when theres such a scarcity of boards to begin with. Some of the mini games were fun (I think Slaparazzi was my favorite, off the top of my head), but most get stale quickly. I doubt I will touch any future installments barring major critical and player reception that the formula I saw here has changed.
