In a year in which some of the most prolific auteurs made a film, Parasite really stood out. It stuck with me more than any other movie released. It's almost a perfect film.

I still have to see Uncut Gems, The Lighthouse, Jojo Rabbit, and Knives Out but the only movie that I can see being any competition would be Uncut Gems.

same.

Jojo Rabbit & Knives Out are great, but Parasite is on a whole other level, IMO.

but I still want to watch The Lighthouse, though, and I hear that Ash is the Purest White is also good.

Real talk I think Bong Joon-ho might be my favorite director of all time.

Just found out the digital release came out on the 20th. Might pick that up and put on the subtitles

Fucking awesome flick. 4:3 ratio, black and white, lotta Greek myth, with two stellar performances.

I've only seen 8 films from this year, my most anticipated film (A Hidden Life) I won't get to see until next year I'm sure.

Sion Sono's The Forest of Love is my number 1, then The Lighthouse. Nothing else I've watched has been on their level. I'm yet to see Parasite although I could if I wanted to. All I hear is people saying how great it is but on the surface it doesn't sound too interesting to me.

I hope you haven't read much on Parasite because it's a rollercoaster.

I didn't realise it was the same director as Snowpiercer, that was pretty bad.

Its a good movie but it is not mind blowing. Ive noticed many people who dont watch foreign films have been raving over it so I can appreciate it as a stepping stone for normies to watch more non-American cinema. Itll probably still land in my Top 10 of the year.

What didnt you like about Snowpiercer? The cinematography was phenomenal imo. But he has a lot of great to amazing movies under his belt. He's a real auteur.
