When people say they prefer breakfast sausage links to sausage patties. You know their mind goes to that fast food/ihop/cafeteria garbage instead of actually good sausage patties.

Or when they say they prefer waffles to pancakes because they've never had pancakes cooked right with that nice dark ring of sear that makes all the difference in the world.

That's different. There's no such thing as bad bacon (unless it's like expired or whatever) so those people just have bad taste. Hard to sympathize with that.

Having a griddle attachment on my stove has made me fall in love with pancakes the last couple of years. I learned I was making them totally wrong too and wasnt getting those rings you mention. Now I do and omg theyre amazing. Also store pancake mixes suck. Making them from scratch is so easy, its just an extra 5 minutes of your time and tastes so much better.
