close to the end of the base game (granted I'm doing all the side quests and shit).

Hesitant to even keep playing because I'm afraid I"m just never going to finish this.

cultists are the progression indicator.
find them all and kill them.

hints of the cultists tell you the areas where you need to be. a couple cultists need to flushed out by weakening areas enough to draw them out then picking a certain side. most cultists are leaders...

The game pretty clearly labels which quests move the story along. What level are you? I was in the low 40s when I finished the main storyline

AC Odyssey is a textbook example of games just being too big

If you're a completionist at all DON'T play AC games.

Oh for sure, I'm just hooked on ... all the side quests. I know which are story >_> I'm level 42, just killed the Minotaur and did a lot of quests on that island.

Yeah it's hard >_> Origins didn't seem that bad, though. And I played through all the others in the span of like a month, was able to just get into a good groove / rhythm with them.

So glad I turned on auto-craft for basic arrows - was just hunting a mythical boar and slayed it from horseback with my arrows >_>
