Gamers know that games are far larger, more complicated and more expensive now than years ago. Games are also all 60 bucks and they've been that way for almost 15 years now. That means that each copy has stayed the same price despite inflation and expenses.
I'm not picking sides because I don't game anymore but what do you expect? You don't want to pay more money but you complain about their greed. Gamers are quick to complain about everything and anything. --- Don't tease the octopus, kids! ... Copied to Clipboard!

I have a problem with it if it affects progression within a game, ie leveling up suddenly being 5 times harder, unless I spend real cash

Explain the ps2 generation. Games were just as big and epic but you didn't get these half assed games like sf5 that take 4 years to become full games. The only faults I got from that gen were memory cards....and that was a minor inconvenience compared to running out of space today because of mandatory installations meaning you could have 20+ games, but you'd have to constantly delete games to install new ones. Mini PC's with no option to upgrade hardware wise.
