You should've seen him. I listened to him for maybe an hour, ranting and raving.

When I was walking past, on my way home, at first he seemed like a normal street preacher, then all of a sudden I caught him saying how we don't want to hear about sin (or possibly Hell). This slightly passive-aggessive, cynical thing made me slightly worried. So, I stood and listened for a while. He talked about how we were all sinners. How ignorant and foolish we were. How we were all evil. How we were worse liars than Herod (the king who wanted to kill Jesus). How we wouldn't listen. How we worshipped the fat red men (Santa Claus). How we were perverted. How Britain is the now an evil country. How we were going to Hell.

You can probably imagine. I'm pretty sure Americans have more problems with crazy public preachers than the UK does. Every so often, someone from the crowd would shake their head in disgust, make offensive hand gestures, or swear at him. Usually I disapprove of most of this behaviour, it might me laugh on this occasion. The people REALLY did not like him. Some stopped and listened for a while, One guy was filming some of it. Dreadful. I remember, at one point, the Christmas band who were very nearby starting playing music to drown him out (although he did have a microphone), and then he said that if they didn't stop playing, they wouldn't be safe.

Apparently the guy representing some kind of religious website, or, at the least, he was distributing free Bibles from the site. His wife (I think) was there with him. Didn't appear to be an actual cleric, since he wasn't wearing a dog collar, just some random nutjob.

Ever see anything like this? First time I've EVER seen something like this, living in Britain, although there did used to be a (nice) preacher in the same street, talking about Christianity.

Honestly I have ever only seen one here in the US and that was on a college campus.

I tend to avoid urban centers though, which is were this kind of thing is most stereotypically portrayed.

How common they really are is something I don't know.

There's a guy that comes to my University like every day and spouts off some wild shit about how everyone is a sinner and going to hell. Kinda Westboro-like but no one's ever with him so I don't think he'll ever get a cult going. Pretty sure the university doesn't want him there but since it's public there's not much they can do I think.

Edit: he goes by Brother Jed and has his own Wikipedia page. Known to say wonderful things like everyone on campus is a dinner because the only knowledge we should have is in the Bible, and that he's surprised we have a strip club in town because all the sorority girls are whores.
