Holy crap do I love Platinum.

I feel like it was a good call playing on Hard for my first playthrough. I feel like high speed frentic gameplay makes more sense with more deaths.

It's still a bit on the easy side though. Bosses are about right, but the normal battles tend to be zero to two deaths.

I just saw a review of that yesterday

They said it was the most grounded and sane game Platinum ever made

which considering it was about 8 foot cyborgs having laser and sword fights over nuking Russia says it all

It might be, actually.

I mean the goofiness is from characters and "why would they make a train track do that" while the physics are still somewhat believable if you don't worry about stuff like how Sam's suit has enough room for all that rocket fuel or whatever propels him to absurd speeds.

Then again I'm just now on act 2 so the ridiculousness is largely still ahead no doubt.

So this giant spaceship rolls in, sprouts legs and starts shooting a gigantic laser at everyone, when a bunch of robots flank me and when I turn to engage them, on the very corner of the screen I see a tank with razor blades on the front start rolling over my cover with no time to react and I die.

I love this game so much lol

I still think that playing on God Hard should reward you with the "unlocked" suit for future playthroughs.
