I think you miss the idea, TC, nobody complains about "foced diversity" in scenarios where it's organic like the birth of a baby is dramatizing.

Maybe if you had a kid named Bob, he was popular, so 20 years later you cloned him and said "since bob was popular we are doing bob again but this time bob 2 is a girl and a little bit different and we let bob 2 improvise a lot"

I think the thing you don't get about people who are annoyed by forced diversity is that they aren't annoyed by diversity, they are annoyed by things being forced. By businesses exploiting people's noble goals for inclusion for cynical financial gain while not actually caring about the underlying principles.

You make a decent point, but I don't think those things were ever as calculated to exploit people's positive ideals the way these modern things are.

Diversity and inclusion is a positive sentiment, and companies signal towards that for money, and others fall for it.

Let me put it this way, I'd feel weird if they made an MLK fast food place if they thought they could make money with it, I'd be like "this is cheap and exploitative and forced". And you could lob the same argument of "You never complained when they made BK, Wendy's, or KFC with white people as their mascot"

It's the cynical manipulation behind forced diversity that bothers me about it. People pay others money because they think a person cares about being woke when really they just care about woke people's money.

I feel like if you wanted to make more real change, we as a culture should make casting directors give auditions in a racially blind manner (for characters where the race doesn't matter).

We got one of the most important female heros in alen just because Ripley was never written to be a man or woman and the casting department considered both. That's the kind of stuff that would actually make a difference.

Female Ghostbusters where people who hate it are called bigots just sends us backwards, it doesn't actually help make the world better.

That's how businesses work. It's been that way forever. Forced diversity is better than forced white man uniformity.

Progress is being made and progress always starts with the people. The businesses only get on board when it's in their best interests, similar to politicians.
