So this politician is giving a speech when some sniper tries to shoot him and misses. Some cop or whatever rescues him and gets him to safety.

Turns out the assassin is working for a guy whose wife the politician is sleeping with.

Turns out the wife seduced the politician to enrage the client enough to hire a hitman because he stole he won't donate to the save the animals fund.

Turns out the assassin talked him into not donating to the save the animals fund to make somebody mad enough to hire him because he needs the money.

Turns out the politician suffers from depression but is too cowardly to commit suicide so he sneakily tanked the assassin's investments to make him desperate for money so he'll encourage someone to hire him to kill the politician.

Turns out the cop was spiking his beverages with depressant drugs to make him depressed enough to commit suicide because he won't raise the police department's budget.
