no one is saying anything makes her more special than anyone. this is something she knows about, put research into and chose to speak out about it like many others have....absolutely nothing wrong with that. she started gaining attention when people, as i said in my other post which you failed to respond to, started to attack her rather than debate her. "The no criticism rule"? She isn't getting any criticism...she's just getting attacked and joked about...Criticism would be a good thing. If proper debating and criticism was offered up it would be perfectly fine...None of that is happening though. Its all just childish remarks and attacks, even from our own President, which is funny because they're the same ones saying "you're just a child, leave it to the adults". she acts like more of an adult than most of the people who talk about her.

Yea they usually choose someone topical, and the fact that she is fighting for a cause that is heavily talked about politically today, while also being given more attention from all the attacks, it makes sense. If it weren't for Trump's Jr high cat fights with her and all "just shut up and let the adults deal with it" shit she wouldn't have gotten this much attention. That much is obvious.

Everyone knows The Honk Kong Protester should have been the award, but Time went with the easy one to not piss off China or something and in turn probably destroying this girls life with an award she has no business getting.

Since when is Time's Person of the year something that matters anymore? I notice people don't care about it until someone they don't like gets it....then its some super prestigious award that supersedes everything else for some reason. I don't even remember or care who got it last year. I don't care that Gretta got it this year....It really doesn't mean much.

but he's right. an award is a positive thing for an accomplishment. Times Person of the Year is just someone who was influential that year. It could be someone who did horrible, terrible things, but if those things were heavily talked about during the year, and made an impact with regard to media or politics, they'd be up for it....being POTY isn't exactly always about positive accolades, you know...Its also just a random magazine who picks a random person. its no different than GameFAQs game of the year contest. Hell that's more of an accomplishment because people outside of the company actually vote.

That's my question as well. Sure, she's up there shouting out the problems, but never really provides any strong or logical answers to them. Yeah, we get it, the climate is changing, what do you want us to do, that would instantly remedy the issue, for good? What ideas do you have, that the hundreds before you haven't already tried?

Yes, that is an award. POTY isn't. Just like the Madden cover athlete isn't an award. its an achievement.
