I love the fact that he is a proponent of "The Living Force". The idea that beyond everything else, beyond Jedi and Sith "teachings", the Force has a will that makes things happen to its will. It is why he believes in the Prophecy of the Chosen One, why he openly will defy the council, and why he actually cares about "Midichlorians".

It is refreshing to see a Jedi, a well-respected and in some ways REVERED Jedi, so openly against the teachings. The teachings of the Jedi ultimately fail Anakin Skywalker, and cause the downfall of the Jedi Order. Hell, arguably you could say that it failed Luke Skywalker as well and led to his own struggles and failures to create a new Jedi Order.

Qui-Gon cared most about following wherever the Force would lead him. It is also the reason why he is the one who ends up perfecting the Force Spirit form or whatever and lives on forever through the Living Force.

Honestly, if they were ever going to have a film based before the prequels but to do with a similar time period (as opposed to going to Old Republic times), I would want it to be a Qui-Gon film, as he is by far the most interesting Jedi from the films, and seeing his evolution as a character to become what he was in Phantom Menace would be awesome.

Apparently he was Yoda's favorite Jedi as well. He used his cloak as a blanket, and talked to force ghost Qui-Gon quite a bit.

Doubtful, he helped Yoda in his time of need. But he may have passed on into the Force by then. Force Ghosts don't stick around forever and ever.

Also just to nitpick, Qui Gon was just the first modern Jedi to rediscover it. But yeah, QGJ rules

Wasnt Anakin trained by Qui-Gons apprentice despite the Council initially thinking training Anakin was a bad idea?

The council thought he was just too old to begin training, although him being considered The Chosen One probably made them relent more than they normally would.

Anakin was failed by the council based on their archaic "Code" that refused to allow Jedi to love someone else. This in turn made Anakin hide his dreams, which would have likely been understood by Yoda and others to be the work of the Sith manipulating him.

Qui-Gon openly defies the council often and isnt afraid to tell them that their rules are stupid. He would have been open to Anakin falling in love and helped him understand his nightmares as opposed to hiding them.

I strongly agree with tc, although I really like the jedi Corran Horn. He has a badass dual phase lightsaber that doubles in length when he twists the handle, and he started out as a detective. Hes an awesome character.

My favorite will always be Obi Wan. He's the quintessential image of a Jedi in the original trilogy.

I also think loyalty to Qui-Gon tipped the scales for Yoda. It certainly did for Obi-Wan.

Dooku being pissed off about Qui-Gon's death was a motivator for him to break off from the Jedi. Qui-Gon's absence casts a shadow over so many things.
