I plug them in and it says "What did you plug in?" and I select Headphones, but it keeps playing music through the speakers and nothing through the headphones. When I go to the audio settings, the dropdown menu only shows the speakers as the output device

I got it to go through the headphones somehow yesterday >_> And these are just normal headphones that work when I plug them into anything else like my phone, old PC, etc. idk what the hell the problem is but can you please help me CE? Literally why the fuck is this so hard

okay cool
Check if you have something called Realtek Audio Console. Should just be able to hit the windows key and type in "real" and it will appear. If not, we need more info
hit windows key and type in "system information" and take a screenshot of that and post it.

Right click the volume icon on the bottom of your screen, and select open sound settings, make sure "Show Disabled Devices" has a check mark on it. It may just be disabled, and if you don't have this option checked, it won't prompt you to enable your headphones.

I got to that audio console and I messed around with some things.

I LITERALLY had to turn off audio jack detection for it to start working like a normal jack. The hell is this backwards nonsense? Why do all the """"""smart"""""" devices in the future like TVs and PCs have such a hard fucking time dealing with simple analog devices? Just take the cable dick in the hole and do your job instead of analyzing every device to give "optimal" experiences and then not work cuz "idk lol" I hate the fucking future sometimes

/rant >_>

Anyway thanks lol

Windows 10 is weird like that. But yeah it's... it's Windows. That's how you fix it anyway, glad it works now.
