If someone burned my house down, and I tried to rebuild it without actually removing any of the rubble, charred beams, or melted stuff, I wouldn't expect the end result to be a house worth living in.

I suspect the same principle is going to apply here.

I'm not sure how anyone could recover from the disaster of Last Jedi.

According to leaks, they are straight retconning some things, but that's still not enough.

The most reasonable thing they could probably do is be a transformers movie with lots of good CGI but a completely nonsense plot, and that'd still be terrible.

Some of the scenes they've previewed probably proved the leaks are true, and if that's the case it's going to be ass sauce. Here's hoping it isn't.

Kinda hard to have expectations since it doesnt seem to be building or going towards anything.

Without Hamill keeping the film grounded, I'm not sure. He really hit it out of the park in TLJ.

It doesn't help that every single person who's claimed to have seen test screenings say it sucks, and almost no one has come forward saying they saw a test screening and enjoyed it.

That's a real bad sign.

Reportedly, the latest "leaks" say the current version of the film supposedly took out one of the most hated scene that supposedly were in all previous versions of the movie, where lots of original trilogy characters all die together in the Millennium Falcon, and added some scenes with Rey messing up not not winning at everything as hard as before, but the overall story is still the same with the same result, Rey and Kylo face Palpatine together, Kylo dies, Rey takes the Skywalker name for herself (thus Rise of Skywalker).
