Why sell a $60 bluray collection once, when you can milk $9 a month streaming subscriptions theoretically forever?

We've passed peak physical media and the sales wouldn't be there to justify it, plus the cost would be pretty bad.

Releasing TV shows on Blu Ray has only recently become more common, and there's still tons of shows that only ever release on DVD collections in NA.

Also they'd probably use the "fake" 16:9 format they've been using recently when streaming it, which is just the original 4:3 format with some of the picture cropped out, and there's a significant amount of people that would never buy it unless it was the original 4:3 format (which the original DVD versions do have).

You can buy the complete series on DVD, but no, it hasn't come to bluray. But I believe Friends was released on bluray a year or two ago so you never know.

However the above poster may be correct, that streaming will be the way to go. As someone who still buys all my media physically - movies, TV, books, games, and even music - I find this very unfortunate. It's nice to "own" something.

That logic doesn't work because they still do absolutely sell season series and complete collections of shows that are streaming.

And it would absolutely be more than $60.

Netflix just paid tons of cash for the streaming rights, they probably included a comment that prevents Jerry and Larry David from releasing it on physical media for the next 3-5 years.

It will be coming to Netflix so they have no reason to.

Yeah but that's when the majority of sales happen, initially. So if even people that want it wouldn't pay the full price when it released that just further defeats the purpose.
