So Brexit was step 1.

Russia has been trying to raise hell in other countries too. Catalonyan separatists in Spain. Yellow vests in France. Neo-nazis in Germany. Fascists in Italy. These are all movements that cause instability and separatism from the EU in individual EU countries, and they're all supported by Russia.

They installed Trump. They installed Boris. Will they install more guys like that in these other countries?

Russia isn't done until they regain all the former Soviet republics. Starve Europe to make Ukraine & co dependent on Russia.

Yes, 100% true.

They want to dissolve the EU and they also want to end the world order that the US started after WW2.

With Brexit accomplished, I am afraid that they'll zero in on Spain (supporting the independentists), Italy (supporting neo-fascists) and France (supporting the Yellow Vests). Then later on they could stir the pot with neo-nazis in Germany too.

It's worrisome

France still has a decent nuclear arsenal. Germany has a decent military and UK or America (Trump's successor anyway) aren't going to turn their backs on EU in the case of a Russo invasion.

Russia is a joke anyway. It's China that's the big bad of the next arc.

I see your point goatknight, but I don't mean a war or anything like that.

I mean Russia causing instability in these countries by stirring internal division and strife and by supporting anti-EU and far-right or far-left (depending on the country) fringe factions so they end in government. It worked in the US and now the UK, and they have been trying in Spain, France and Italy

I was reading some experts talking about this. They defined the attack on the democratic, western world order as this:

Russia is a hurricane: Sudden, violent and devastating but ultimately temporary.
China is global warming: Slow, steady, it creeps up on you but it's there to stay and in the end you'll be fucked

Nationalism is on the rise around the world. Its like a pushback against the globalization thats been happening for decades.

Several factors that contribute to the anxieties of the masses. Increases in immigration, Job losses due to automation but blamed on immigration. Massive economic & generational cultural changes due to the tech boom.

And then you gotta look into those factors to find more factors, immigration for example. Climate Change has lead to droughts, food shortages, refugees, & conflicts that then cause more refugees to immigrate to other countries.

All those backsliding democracies is because of people wanting to go back to the good ol days. They blame foreigners & other countries for the state of their own lives & country.

Maybe Brexit is a good thing in the long term. Other EU member countries are increasingly becoming conservative and some like Poland & Hungary are becoming authoritarian. What will that European Union be like?

This is the problem.

Worries about globalism are legit. Corporatists have hijacked the economy. Jobs get shipped overseas, labor is sent to sweatshops, differences in exchange rates and costs of living make it impossible for people in non-failed states to get a decent job.

Big corporations looked for escape goats so people don't focus on this, and just like you said they blamed immigration, minorities, and social progress for people's woes, so people don't realize that it's stuff like automation and outsourcing causing the issues. Then the alt-right hijacked these worries to bring millions of disenfranchised people into their toxic, evil ideology.

We're fucked, I guess
