Its a bad voting system? When people talk about how the U.S. has a bad voting system they usually point to European countries like France & Britain as examples of superior voting systems.

I dunno whats what anymore.
Yeah, it's the First past the poll system which is very far from perfect and particularly weighted in favour of the conservatives just now, with how they got a significant 'majority' with under 44% vote share. There's more split with the central and left parties, meaning even if they get a majority between them, the conservatives can still sneak in and steal the win.

With this election it basically works out that the conservative party on average only needed 38300 votes to win a seat, while the Labour party needed 50701 to win one.

It's far worse still for the Liberal Democrats who needed 334122 votes to win a seat - they actually got 1.3 million more votes than in the last election and lost a seat as a result. And the Green party on average 864743 votes per seat.

And this isn't even mentioning the House of Lords who the public has no control over who are a bunch of old fat men who can veto laws and legislation that the democratically elected government created

The House of Lords can't Veto laws or legislation, they can only delay and propose amendments, which the House of Commons can reject.

Not really. There's a significant difference between "they can veto laws and legislation", and "they can delay, or try to amend laws and legislation".

Not really.

I flat out said I wasn't trying to get into them and the point was to demonstrate that they are not publically elected and can stop Democratically elected Governments from passing laws and legislation.

I mean going "the House of Lords didn't veto a No-Deal Brexit, they just delayed the possibility of a No-Deal Brexit from possibly occuring until after the Brexit deadline while the UK was still trying to negociate." is splitting hairs. That undeniably blocked any chance of a no-deal Brexit from occuring and ensured an extention absolutely occured.

And don't twist my words, I'm massively against a No-Deal Brexit, the extention was a good thing my point is that going "Well it's not technically a veto. It's just effectively one in practical terms" is intentionally missing the point and defeats my whole purpose of trying to explain them quickly off handedly.

It's boarderline trolling.

I hope the UK gets our expensive healthcare system.

You get what you vote for
other things UK might want that we voted for in 2016:

  • lowest unemployment since 60s
  • eased restrictions on small businesses
  • massive job creation
  • 11 trillion ADDED to the economy
  • ability to engage and kill terrorists, instead of chasing them from one stronghold to another
  • a more secure country
  • competitive free market that drives down cost
  • prison reform

Not at all. No-deal Brexit is the default. Parliament has to pass a deal. It doesn't ensure an extension at all.

And don't twist my words, I'm massively against a No-Deal Brexit, the extention was a good thing my point is that going "Well it's not technically a veto. In the face of this I don't expect the EU to grant any more extensions on Brexit. Nor should they really, UK wants out, they can go, the EU doesn't have to give them any kind of deal. It will wreck the economy of the country. Especially London, whose economy is based on cheap labor from eastern europea. EU countries.

The Scottish Nationalist party has already started calling for a new independence referendum so they can be their own country and rejoin the EU. Northern Ireland will likely hold a referendum to join Ireland (also an EU nation). So essentially Boris Johnson is going to be the PM who presided over the dissolution of the UK.

The EU does not benefit from a no deal Brexit

They will hand out extensions until the UK folds

Im convinced its because of Brexit fatigue. People are tired of it hanging over the country and if anyone is going to get it done (for better or worse) its going to be Mr. Brexit.

Hell, Corbyn didnt even present a quick way out... he was just Brexit on a longer timetable which is a fucking joke and not something people wanted to deal with. Would not be surprised if he was replaced as head of Labour
