Let's say that in this alternate timeline, SEGA is much more competent than they were IRL, and Saturn and later Dreamcast both had full lifespans. They would still be competing in the console space alongside rivals Nintendo and Sony.

Given the juggernauts that those three companies are, would the Xbox had been able to gain a foothold in the console space? Or would Microsoft even attempt to make the Xbox at all?

Basically, do you think the industry could support four major game consoles?
