My job is a great argument for why welfare should exist and be supported. I'm doing a lot of important work, helping literally save lives, all for a non profit that can't afford to pay me more than what they do. I'd love to stay in this job forever, but the reality is if I don't try to move up I'll be struggling financially my entire life. I don't even qualify for food stamps :/

Yeah it's sad how sometimes the most valuable work isn't compensated according to its true worth by the private market. Good teaching for example.
