Feel free to give your thoughts as they come up, it's always interesting to see. There are so many openings to choose from, 100 is a lot more prohibitive than it sounds, especially when there's like 60-70 openings a season.

Anyway here's one I had to get on the list. Because I'm a Popipa Stan, and I live that life.

80. Kizuna Music - Poppin' Party - BanG Dream! Season 2 OP
2019 (7/9)
Winter 2019 (5/5)
https://streamable.com/9dczn

Kizuna Music may not be the most technically beautiful opening, but I love this song to death and I love how the character of each of the PoPiPa girls shines through in this one. Winter 2019 is my second most represented season, just behind Spring 2018 which had 7 songs somehow. Anyway it's a real bop and I can't help but sing along whenever it starts playing. I also couldn't find a version without ads or being cut off so here you go. I was originally planning on just putting this as the 100th spot but I just kept moving it up the list as I went through the pile of songs because I just liked everything else less.

a couple i didnt mention were Nostalgic Rainfall (After the Rain) and the OPs from Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi

I think the latter is from a somewhat overlooked series, but the former I'd probably consider to be maybe a lock for the list.

I still prefer Brave Jewel of the two OPs, but I like Kizuna Music.

I should say that Tokimeki Experience actually grew on me overtime, and I REALLY sick of hearing that song back when Girls Band Party came out.

78. Ambiguous - Garnidelia - Kill La Kill OP 2
2014 (8/12)
Winter 2014 (3/4)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaLeO-2Fytg

Kill la Kill... was weird. I don't really have much to say about it, but the experience was rather dull despite seeming like it could go some interesting places. The opening has a lot of those same flaws. Stylistically, it's ugly as sin, but somehow it just works. It's like one of those madness flash animations from the early oughts that just manage to work. Ambiguous is a rocking song though, and it helps get you hyped for... whatever the hell this show was supposed to be. The gallons of blood splashing onto the title with the sunlight gleaming overhead is a real good shot though, gotta give some props for that.

77. Black Rover - Vickelblanca - Black Clover OP 3
2018 (14/16)
Spring 2018 (6/7)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsK8SsfqdHE

Black Clover is something of a long runner this decade, with 9 openings to choose from. I guess it was likely that something from it would make this list. However, this is the only opening I really thought to consider for the top 100. Some of the other songs are nice, but most of them aren't. Some of the visuals for other openings are really striking, but don't always work for me. Black Rover is that great mix of both, it really draws you into this shounen af fighting anime, the action scenes are gorgeous and paired perfectly with the lead singer chanting BLACK CLOVER. I know he's actually saying Rover, shh. It's still really good, but I'm pretty sure studio pierrot dumps all of their animation budget into their openings.

76. I Swear - Sweet ARMS - Date a Live III
2019 (6/9)
Winter 2019 (4/5)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHTqQSW_g4k

This was not an opening I was expecting to make this list, but it's one of those that sticks with you as you listen to it. The instrumentation is charming, the buildup is really intense, and it does have some really nice looking scenes, showing off this dude's crazy battle harem. I don't even know what the hell this is even about but it looks cool. Much cooler than I would ever expect from an anime named Date a Live. And to be honest, I really like that scene where the main girl is falling from the sky, and then it changes to each of the other girls as they fall down from the sky. That was just really well shot.

I guess the second year i might as well remark on is 2019, seeing as two songs have cropped up so far today

Weak selection of songs from this season, I'm glad they're out of the way already. I'm glad neither was an arbitrary beastars pick at least. Ones I liked this season were... Assassin's Pride's, Kabukicho Sherlock's, Null Peta's and... Well, I'd probably draw the line there when it comes to ones I'd realistically put in a top 100, though i was okay with a few others like African Office Worker's I suppose.

So, winter. Winter strong yes. Can confirm since when I was nominating for the other opening ranking project, more than half of the 2019 stuff I was considering was from it specifically. I didn't watch either of the shows you listed so far (dropped both well before those seasons) so their openings likewise kinda fell under my radar but I like them too. Ones I liked that I hope make it on though would be... In no particular order because I really like a lot of them... Revisions', The Magnificent Kotobuki's, Kemono Friends 2's, Endro's, Bermuda Triangle's (which I'd like to add had the superior BanG Dream opening that season!), Virtual-san Looking's and especially Boogiepop's, which is probably my favourite of the entire year by a wide margin. I'd also be okay with quite a few other songs though, like Touch off from The Promised Neverland or 99.9 from Mob Psycho 2, or Gotoubun's or DomeKano's. Really anything as long as it isn't shield hero, which deserves to die in a fire.

Lastly, spring and summer, which I see there must only be two songs for. Unfortunate, but understandable since I found them weaker too. The only ones that even come to mind for spring to me are Carole & Tuesday's, and Amazing Stranger's. The latter wasn't even good, it just stuck with me. A friend of mine really liked RobiHachi's opening but I preferred the ED by a lot. I wouldn't blame you if you just picked like, the Pop Team Epic specials for that season lol. As for summer... Uhhhhhhhhhhh... Symphogear's opening was different from prior ones i guess. I liked Re:Stage's but it didn't quite stick with me. I was also okay with Kochoki's, and and I liked how Machikado's was a reference to a scene in it where everything in the show was entirely thrown out of perspective. That was fun. That said any pick that isn't Wa Moon Dass Cry (Wasteful Days of High School Girls) or Paradise City (Cop Craft) is wrong. okay fine I like onegai muscle too

75. Signal - Ling Tosite Shigure
2016 (8/11)
Summer 2016 (3/3)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Czj0m3vZhBY

It's boardwalk empire... in anime form. Ok, that may be an insult to either 91 days or Boardwalk Empire I'm not sure. In any case, the music is really gripping and just builds tension so well for the sheer violence that happens in the last 30 seconds of the opening. If I liked the singer more this could have been even higher, but I find his breathiness to take me out of it from time to time.

2017 (5/6)
Fall 2017 (1/2)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rBNn0q6u_A

Oh my god, Nagi Yanagi's voice is so soft and beautiful, it just really hits you right in the heart. I almost had even more of her on the list, but for this opening in particular her songs just matches so well with this soft, dream like opening. It was a real standout of the season, that actually had quite a few honorable mentions that fell just short.

Anyway, we're a quarter of the way through the list, let's kick out some honorable mentions.

HM: Wild Side - Ali - Beastars
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgo9dJB_icw

I do like the jazzy opening, but the animation really takes me out of the whole thing. Looks like the Fantastic Mr. Fox... ugh. Also it ends at entirely the wrong time in the song, so boooo.

HM: My Hero - Man on a Mission - Inuyashiki
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5enNlA7ljvM

Definitely one of the hardest cuts I had to make. The imagery is really cool, the buildup is awesome, but in the end it fell just short. Hit me on the ground, I guess.

HM: Ash - Lisa - Fate/Apocrypha
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M71rRWmEcU

I pretty much considered every Lisa opening out there, I really do like her voice. However I found this one just a hair short of what I'd consider a top 100 opening.

HM: Hope - Namie Amuro - One Piece
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo52vQyAR6w
If I didn't have a One Piece representative, I think this one might have snuck it's way into the top 100. Not above any of the other Fall 2017 openings, but the low 80's, high 90's sounds about right. Great action as usual, and a very powerful song by Namie Amuro is a big plus. One Piece Openings also get to run longer than other openings, so they get to show more off. Kind of cheating, honestly.

HM: Over and Over - Nagi Yanagi - Just Because!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZuXenQLbjg
I said I had a lot of Fall 2017 cuts, I meant it. But this one was overshadowed by the great work she did with Here and There, so in the end it fell just a bit short of the mark.

Fall 2013 (3/3)

High points for a really catchy song, the opening does a great job matching the pace of the song, and the synth really works well with whatever the heck this anime is actually about. It really gives you those Kotoko vibes, which I was sorely missing this decade.

2018 (13/16)
Spring 2018 (5/7)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QahFijEd3hY

It's about time we knocked out another 2018 song, and we're going with Golden Kamuy's first OP this time. Surprisingly it's not a heavy rocking piece like I'm used to expecting from Man with a Mission, instead it just has this sort of driving intensity that is matched with really nice visuals. I especially love the shot of the protagonist laying in the snow as the music swells to it's high point. That's good shit. The second opening is also really good and was worth consideration, but I just liked the vocals on this one a teensy bit more.

Guess I'll have a look at 2018 this time since spring is so prominent. Last year I recall I went and checked every OP and ED in a couple of seasons so hopefully I haven't forgotten too much.

I might as well get one year in the correct chronological order though so starting off with winter. Three OPs in winter made the list, apparently, and the first one to go was one I can't say I care for. Granted, that's mainly because I actively don't like the song, so there's that. But also, to be perfectly fair, I was on the fence about a lot of winter openings, so while it wasn't exactly even close a favourite of mine, it wasn't exactly alone there. Anyway, stuff I liked. I didn't even attempt to watch the show itself, but I liked Death March to a Parallel World's OP song (Keiichi Hirokawa's been pretty great in the last few years). I was one of the few people that liked Hakumei to Mikochi's opening too, not that I expect that to make it with its visuals. The Junji Ito anime's opening was a low-key banger too. How To Keep A Mummy's opening was okay, but I felt the ending was a lot more memorable. The Antarctica anime's opening was pretty memorable. Oh, yes, and Yurucamp's existed I guess. I dunno if any of those would've been high enough for me to not snub myself though. Maybe Hakumei or Antarctica but I doubt it. Ones I *might* have though would have to be... Violet Evergarden's (though only borderline), Takunomi's (though I would've had it lower than other Rasmus Faber openings for sure), Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san's and Mitsuboshi Colors....... And maybe the ep1 opening for Pop Team Epic. I liked the real one too, but again, probably not in. You might think with all the shows I listed, I actually liked the season, but honestly it just happened to have a lot of openings hovering around a mid-7/10 range to me, in addition to plenty below that. None of them would've hit top 50. More shows than not that I mentioned even had better EDs. So yeah, eh.

Spring, the big season. 7 openings on the list somehow. The three that surfaced thus far are all ones I overlooked to some degree. To be honest, this whole season was definitely the one I overlooked the most last year, but I suppose that's more on me more than anything. Still though, it was also a season with bizarre stuff like this: https://animethemes.moe/video/FumikiriJikan-OP1.webm. Besides that, I don't remember that much and probably would've struggled to get 7 myself lol. Ones that I do remember though include Alice or Alice, Amanchu Advance, Hisomaso, Gurazeni, lostorage conflated WIXOSS (which didn't hold a candle to the older stuff but was good on its own merits), the Soma opening that season, Tada-kun (though it's not Masayoshi Oishi's strongest offering in the last few years) and (I wish I didn't, but) Uma Musume. I guess I could've picked five of those, at least. Probably only 3 though.

Summer! A good summer season. I was one of the weirdos that liked Asobi Asobase's opening a lot and never got tired of its swerve tactics. That would've likely made top 50 for me. Gokudols opening cracked me up, and even more with the special version. I can't believe they got Masayoshi Oishi to make a parody of the Kemono Friends opening, after all the yakuza money laundering scheme jokes surrounding kf itself. Visually I liked Chio-chan's opening, though the song got stale. Probably a close snub. I hated Grand Blue, but its opening was strong. Hanebado's was good too. Harukana Receive was excellent. Cells At Work was strong and deserves bonus points for also having a great english version too. Holmes of Kyoto's was strong in the visuals department. Ongaku Shoujo/Music Girls likewise stood out a lot more than I expected. VORACITY (in Overlord III) was the biggest banger in any anime in recent memory, and Tom H@ck also had another treat that season with Yama no Susume S3's opening. What a strong season. I'd say of those, I'd have likely included around... 6-8 of those? Good stuff.

Lastly fall. Compared to summer, a season I would consider good, but not great. Also a season I missed a lot of since it was one that I focused on watching stuff with a friend instead. It had Adabana Necromancy, an opening with inconsistency that mirrored the show. It feels almost like sacrilege for it to not make it, but its underwhelming ending hurts. It had yagakimi, with an opening and ending that I never managed to remember despite their quality. It had Tiramisu, surprisingly having one of the more memorable openings despite being 30 seconds long. It had Gridman, which... Had a surprisingly normal song in retrospect, which my friend liked a lot. I guess I can't judge that as a fault though given how much I likewise defended Merc Storia's opening. What can I say, Mili had good stuff then. Overall, the one that stuck with me the most though was (De-De-De-De-De) Devidol's. It's a real shame it went unsubbed past ep1. I think honestly I would've only had 3 at best from it.

71. Azalea - Nano.Ripe - Citrus
2018 (12/16)
Winter 2018 (2/3)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEmq9e_ZxJE

I very nearly forgot about this one. One of the few that fell that through the cracks, but other people were like "I like this one" which reminded me. Shit, I love this one. Nano.Ripe can be a bit hit or miss, her vocals definitely sound a little strange, but I find them charming for the most part, and they do a great job with this anime that I can only assume is about the power of 'very good friends' doing... good friend things. Hush I know, I won't beat around the bush. All in all, a really good opening, I approve.

Oh i actually did forget about citrus, oops

I suppose part of the reason is because I vastly prefer to associate nano.ripe with her stuff for Non Non Biyori more than anything, and most of her songs since just haven't felt like they really fit the shows they're on. Which I guess is just another way of saying they're hit or miss, though on their own I generally do like them. Plus I just didn't watch more than a single episode of citrus, it wasn't my thing as far as yuri works go in the slightest.

The only post-nnb nano.ripe op/eds I still remember are the ones in soma, and frankly soma has better anyway.

Looking it up now, I suppose it doesn't help that the other member of nano.ripe has been the only one composing any songs in anime since nnb

2016 (7/11)
Summer 2016 (2/3)
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4jsi25

So again, obscure mecha animes are definitely up my alley. Mecha animes where the main character is a time travelling samurai stopping an alien invasion? *chefs kisses* that is the stuff. Kuromukuro was a really fun ride, and both of the openings were fairly strong. I liked this one in particular for the driving guitars, it has a really great buildup to the climax of the song, and then it just goes ham at the end. Rock on Destiny definitely rocks.

Hey, lemme just punch you in the gut real quick. There's not a lot I don't love about this opening, the visual style is striking, the instrumentation is perfect, and everything from about 35 seconds on just kind of takes you out of reality for a moment in time. Sometimes you just like a silly and sweet opening. ClariS definitely delivers on that front, as they often do, and the song really just gives you that fluffy heartwarming feeling you desperately want. It's not really impressive visually, but it does give you a good sense of what each of the primary and secondary characters are like, and the song is really really good. I should mention that again.

67. Eien no Hitotsu - Yukari Tamura - ISLAND
2018 (11/16)
Summer 2018 (2/2)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZzxGluAXbM

Island was really good guys *sniffles* really really good. In any case, I love the piano that plays throughout the piece, as it really drives the whole work forward. You get these nice establishing shots, and then the music swells, and Rinne is dancing around on the sand, and it's just so good from there. The cut to Rinne falling into the ocean always always gets me... It's just a really good, really bitter opening that gets you right in the chest.

66. In My World - Rookiez is Punk'd - Ao no Exorcist
2011 (10/12)
Summer 2011 (2/2)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXasTQC5KKQ

I love this song. The random english somehow makes the song so much better, and I think turned me on to the whole thing of japanese songs with random english in it. In any case, the rhythm catches you fast and you're just swept along it, and when the chorus hits you can't help but chant "AH AH AH ALONE IN MY WORLD!". It's really good, just a pleasure to listen to, and somehow only the third song I've knocked off from 2011 at this point. It's getting interesting to see just how the years are stacked up against one another.

65. ADAMAS - Lisa - Sword Art Online: Alicization
2018 (10/16)
Fall 2018 (4/4)
https://www.facebook.com/animelab/videos/2117484725235096/

So Sword Art Online, love it or probably hate it tends to end up with some really nice openings. I found they went way over the top with Alicization, and found myself having to choose one of the two they went with. In the end, ADAMAS narrowly edged out Resister and Crossing Field from the original back in 2012. The song is a banger, the animation is so fluid and well thought out, and it just looks really pretty as it shifts from action to character focus shots. If I wasn't sick of Sword Art Online, an opening like this makes you want to see what the series is really about.

64. Great Days - Karen Aoki & Daisuke Hasegawa - JoJo's Bizzare Adventure OP 7
2016 (6/11)
Fall 2016 (2/2)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBiVN5T7dv8

Likewise with Sword Art Online, I knew a JoJo's opening was going to make my list. The choice was much tougher though, on a different day perhaps this could be Bloody Stream, or Fighting Gold. Hell I'm really partial to Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town, and Sono Chi no Sadame is a classic at this point. In the end though, I decided to go with Great Days, I love the imagery and establishing shots, and everything from "Let the voice of love take you higher" is just gold, it's fleeting, swelling and inspirational. And then of course there's

BITEZ ZA DUSTO

The madmen actually did it, it plays backwards and forwards. I thought it was inventive and really cool, and I like that it seems to be a trend that the villain takes over the opening near the end of the show. David Production is based.

Although it didn't work as well as Great Days I did like when Uragirimono no Requiem did the same thing, but then had Giorno take it over again for the finale

But Great Days is the best JoJo OP currently so nailed it

63. Climbers High - Manami Numakura - Fuuka
2017 (4/6)
Winter 2017 (2/2)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9b89jkeRIM

It's apparently about trucks. I never would have guessed. For an opening about a band doing cool band stuff... yeah this definitely qualifies. The song is a real banger, and while not as cool as Driver's High from GTO, that was definitely not this decade. It definitely hits that mark where it just fits the opening visuals really well, and it ends up being really appealing because of it.

62. Yasashisha no Riyuu - Choucho - Hyouka
2012 (3/8)
Spring 2012 (2/4)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Msuu3b-L-2k

Really knocking the 2012 openings out of the way fast, here's my 3rd favourite opening of the year. The singer's voice is beautiful, and I absolutely love the ripple effect adding a splash of colour of the scene, drawing your eyes exactly where they need to be at all times. They use the imagery in the rain really well, and then the last thirty seconds or so being really cute slice of life stuff to remind what this anime is actually all about. It's a real treat, that's for sure.

61. Katharsis - Ling Toshite Sigure -Tokyo Ghoul:re OP2
2018 (9/16)
Fall 2018 (3/4)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCCG3oQKu90

This is the second appearance of Ling on this list. I mentioned before that sometimes his breathiness really takes me out of a song, but it really works for this one. I have no clue what the show is actually about, but I like the ripple effects, and everything from about 45 seconds is just really high energy, and the repeating of 'I miss you' as the focus character goes through all of his phases is just a visually appealing shot that I love. Of course I mishear these lyrics as english now so I hear some very weird things like "You killed the manga, how could you let me down?"

Oh hey finally a chance to catch up.

Shana Final OP2 is meh - definitely a big step down from Light My Fire.

Flashback was my favorite OP from last year. It's fantastic. Would have it a lot higher.

Kind hate Ancient Magus Bride OP. Something about the start irritates me a lot.

Nano OPs good times. Hope Savior of Song is on here.
