Open world non-linear games are great for those who have the time to explore a world or have (the illusion of) choices that shape the game's world, but I just want a directly linear experience that's fun and to the point when I have less than an hour for a game sesh

I prefer open world stuff generally, but if the game is good enough a linear one is fine.

I do sometimes. I like stories and narratives. Open world games have those but running around in a big nothing is boring after a while.

Open World Games tend to lose focus, because they're so invested in craming the world with a bunch of minutiae for you to do. Ubisoft games are the worst for it. I like games with a definite conclusion, so I actually feel like I'm finished with the game, as opposed to playing until I get bored of it.

I'm also not a fan of choices when it's barely anything more than flavor text. It's like, I'm definitely not gonna be replaying the game, much less just to see what the other choice for dialogue was.

So many open world games are running into the "mile wide but an inch deep" syndrome.... no surprise.

I hear so many good things about Morrowind, that I actually wants to modded up for modern gaming experiences and see how it is. I've tried playing it before, but I didn't get how to play the game, and stopped after about 5 minutes.
