I was playing the demo and it didn't even dawn on me that was Nero until just now when I was wondering if the dude from DMC 4 with the devil arm was in the new dmc.

Why does he look so different? And why is it kinda similar to the failed reboot look of dante?

I guess with the current generation, they wanna have videogame characters look as close to real people as possible.

Possibly DmC influence, which sort of extends to Nero's whole attitude in 5, except way better than Donte.

Could also be the RE Engine or just making Nero look more distinct from Dante.

I'm not saying I don't miss the pretty boy look he has of dmc 4 and it's not that he looks too shabby here, but he kinda looks like the actor ryan phillipe now and I'm not sure that's a good thing as I don't like that actor.

Look up Leon Kennedy and Claire redfield in resident evil 2 remake. Especially Claire, she's unrecognisable

Yeah I noticed Dante looks different too, and by different I mean really weird and old and haggard. You think that's the reason why? Because Trish looks awful too, it's like what is going on. They both look like grandparents.

Capcom likes to model the appearances of RE characters after actual people and sometimes they lose the likeness rights.

The only thing that I hated about remade Claire is that they completely changed her outfit. At least Leons uniform is exactly what you'd expect from a remake but Claire's was just entirely redone for seemingly no reason except to maybe make her look more like she did in Revelations 2.

Face changes are due to it being on the RE engine. As for the hair it was probably to differentiate him more from Dante.

I liked the DMC 4 engine they had.

I think it's a mix of DmC influence and wanting to distinguish Nero more from Dante, since Dante already has long(ish) white hair.
