Nero is fun to play as, and I enjoy his devil arm, but as such the game is meant to be played as him almost exclusively and enemies are designed around him. Playing as Dante is not as fun. Which is weird because I loved playing as Dante in DMC 3.

Adding Lady, Trish, and Virgil as playable characters is also great but... I kinda wish they did more with them. You play the exact same levels with every. single. character.

No variety, no cutscenes, nothing. Just play the exact same area (which was already a criticism in vanilla DMC 4!) you did as Nero and Dante.

I can understand Lady and Trish being in the same level, but I would have thought they'd do something unique for Virgil considering the whole Nero could be Virgil's son rumor. Like a whole story about how he met someone in fortuna and they had a child together and some stuff happened, I dunno. Because it's difficult otherwise to believe Virgil having a child with a woman, he doesn't seem the type. Just to make Nero = Virgil's son believable.

Yeah as someone who loved the addition of Lady, Trish, and Vergil in that game it was annoying to just replay the same stages. I'm guessing they thought the new characters and how different they played was more than enough (which it kind of was). Oh well, they got away with it DMC3 SE and did it with DMC4 SE. I bet they will do it again with DMC5 if they add more characters.

At least they're somewhat fun to play as:

• Charging up Lady's bazooka and unleashing it on enemies is so satisfying, but only when it actually hits.
• Trish on the other hand was the real show stealer of that campaign, incredibly fun to play as and her lightning moveset is just insane.
• I've only just started Virgil's campaign but am hoping he'll be fun to play as. Doing another 20 of those same missions though...
