Some time next year. I imagine CE will release a few months from now, and 2 and 3 will follow it.

Heroic is probably the best difficulty to play for each game. CE and 2 are especially challenging on Legendary.

That's part of it, the other part is they're making sure they each play like a genuine PC game with modern PC gameplay settings (FOV sliders, uncapped framerate, good mouse+keyboard support, etc) and they're working on one game at a time, sending out small "flights" (basically mini beta tests) throughout each game's development for the public to test out to make sure it feels good enough for release.

They did Reach first so they could add it to the X1 version at the same time.

My guess is they are working on all games in the collection simultaneously, with like 90% of the effort being on Reach, so now 90% is on CE until that's done, then 2, etc. Meaning that each game will hopefully take less time to be added since a lot of the foundational work will already be done.

Also this. I believe Bungie once stated that Heroic is the "Canon" difficulty.

You could always turn the Mythic skull on which activated the fifth difficulty if you feel like crying.

Solo legendary Halo requires a lot of tip toeing. You're either moving through the levels at a snails' pace or you're going out of your way to avoid conflict. It's rare that people are able to brute force solo legendary. Even people who can go through the campaign "quickly" still do lots of hiding. It has less to do with skill and more to do with the fact that your shields and health can't hold up against the ridiculous amount of firepower thrown your way.

I'd say Heroic is the best difficulty simply because you don't need to tip toe through the campaign.
