When you act a certain way then you'll be labeled or grouped up accordingly, it's only normal but most people hate it and take great offense to being labeled even if it is a harmless label.

Say you're a gamer or a nerd and you get called one; some will not like it. Say you're with a bunch of friends and then you get called out for having tons of similarity and then you get somewhat mad about that.

You know why that is? I truly believe it is because labeling people or saying they're like someone else or grouping people with similarity together takes away their uniqueness. People want to think they are special, no one can be like them, their individualism speaks volume and that sort of thing. In my opinion, I've always felt like if I am what I am then I either need to accept it or change. I am a nerd and if you call me a nerd then I proudly acknowledge it. If my friend Roger and I share tons of similarity and are very liked-minded, comparing me to him would not insult me at all even if we share some bad traits together. Simply put, labeling people or grouping them up is just another way of telling someone they are not special, which is why some people get offended.
