Went for jury duty, sat for one jury selection, didnt get picked and when we returned to the jury room was told the other cases were all already settled for the day, got paid the $5 stipend and were allowed to leave. --- Fall down, go boom... I was honest in my responses and was not trying to weasel my way out but each time one of the lawyers would ask me to be dismissed. Got to spend 3 days downtown for a traffic accident that awarded someone $500. I live in the suburbs of Chicago, but was summoned to a courtroom in downtown Chicago. I live in Cook County, which extends from Chicago to as far as 30 miles west, which is basically where I am. You can get summoned to I believe 3 courts in Chicago, and one in the suburbs. Problem is that a large majority of the courtroom stuff takes place in the city, so youre much more likely to get summoned to the city. In good traffic, it would take me about 45-50 minutes to make the drive.
