Marathoning one main trilogy film each week in preparation for The Rise of Skywalker. Been watching with a first timer; a woman in her twenties.

Here are her reactions for each film (that I remember):

Episode IV

• Good movie

Episode V

• Why didn't Vader react more when learning Luke was his son?

Episode VI

• Love the cute Ewoks
• Ending changed my image of Darth Vader

Episode I

• Pod racing scene was stressful
• Aw Qui-Gon dies?
• Palpatine looks shady

Episode II

• Anakin is creepy
• Palpatine is clearly evil and he looks like Darth Sidious

Episode III

• This movie makes up for the other prequels
• Choosing to save his family is a hard decision
• That's so sad [order 66]
• Anakin!! [disappointed when he chopped Windu]
• Anakin is irredeemable [killing younglings]
• Are they going to explain what Yoda meant about immortality in the sequels?

She doesn't care if Darth Vader turned good at the last moment.

4 > 3 > 6 > 5 > 1 > 2

Return of the Jedi will always be my favorite. just cause of the final showdown near the end

I went RotJ. The whole lightsaber fight at the end where Luke almost loses it and kills Vader was awesome on an emotional level and on a good action scene level.

I'm actually excited to rewatch the sequel trilogy.

Rogue 1, followed by Empire.

Although RotJ's throne room sequence is the best thing in the entire franchise

Just curious and maybe cause I'm drifting asleep and can't think straight but wtf happened to Vader when he saved Luke? He was standing fine and his breathing fine until he threw Palpatine? Over the edge. I don't remember lightning hitting him but as soon as he threw him his breathing got funky

The Emperor hit Darth Vader with Force Lightning which damaged the suit's life support system.

Sequel Trilogy is up next. They're the only ones we don't have on DVD.

Just realized I'm going to have to spend money on TFA again. $3.99 rental

Honestly excited for the st including tros. I knew it was just a matter of time before I warmed up to the story.

About to rent TFA in the next hour or two. Ama

Dont do it, pretend the shit stain of the ST does not exist and ROTJ is the last SW movie for the Skywalkers.

Rogue One is the only disney film I can recommend watching.

The PT was not hated by most and a lot of people said how good the PT related stuff was or other SW game that came out when the PT was the current SW.

We have gotten very little with the ST and it is not even close to being liked as the PT was due to no good set pieces, no interesting new characters, and so little in the way of SW content.

The Mandalorian, and Jedi Fallen Order in 2019 are reasons for the increase in SW being popular again not the ST.

The prequels at the time were universally panned and hated. The Last Jedi on the other hand is critically acclaimed and only disliked by a vocal minority of simpletons.

TLJ is the film that pissed off many fans, left casuals not giving a shit, and has had the biggest fan backlash by the people behind it because it was rightly called garbage.

ST should have been about the Skywalker cousins. Luke's and Leia's children. Aged 20s-30s. Unnaturally powerful force users due to bloodline.

It's like a branching family tree.

PT: Mom and Dad
OT: Brother and Sister
ST: Cousins

I really hope Rey keeps being a nobody. It would feel so bad if, in the whole Galaxy, the only people who matter are people with noble heritage, especially when the OT taught us that the Force is everywhere

I am marathoning all Star Wars movies as well.

I have watched them in order (I think?):

1). The Phantom Menace
Great movie, Darth Maul was the MVP. The blockade was only a problem escaping, not returning? Jar Jar Binks was painful.

2). Attack of the Clones
Worst acting out of all the movies, Hayden Christensen is fucking awful. Palpatine/Sidious is amazing. You can really see how he is subtly manipulating everyone, definitely the movie's saving grace.

3). Revenge of the Sith
Best of the prequelogy. Palpatine/Sidious still going strong, acting is getting better. The setup towards Darth Vader is a little underwhelming.

5). Solo
The casting was pretty good, overall an enjoyable movie, but didn't add much over arching story. The pacing was a little iffy to me though.

6). Rogue One
Probably one of my favourite movies. It's a direct prequel to a new Hope, and unlike Solo I feel this movie adds something. I love how it explains that the Death Star has a structural weakness and how it came to be there.

7). A New Hope
Love this movie, the confrontation between Obi Wan and Vader is nothing short of legendary. Even though the Death Star is menacing as fuck, they manage to win.

8). The Empire Strikes Back
The best Star Wars movie. The Darth Vader/Luke reveal. The movie ends on a really dark note, and is the perfect setup for the next movie.

9). Return of the Jedi
Luke is really the strongest point in this movie, even against all odds he keeps the hope that he can get through to his father (and he does), it really encompasses his character perfectly. The battle of Endor is also pretty good, but not the best battle in the movies.

10). The Force Awakens
going to rewatch this movie one of these days, will with hold my opinion till then, same goes for The Last Jedi.

Everyone can use the force. It's just that the Skywalker bloodline is unnaturally powerful due to Anakin being literally half midchrlorian.

There are plenty of stories. Clone Wars. Old republic. Dark times. Post Empire.

The main trilogy movies are centered around the Skywalker bloodline. The mystery of Anakin's birth. His marriage with Padm. The importance of their twin children.

Only the ST didn't continue this trend. Should have been about the Skywalker cousins imo [Luke's and Leia's family, the legacy of Darth Vader].
