Based on common complaints I've seen from people who tried VF but didn't like it saying it's slow and rigid, my guess is the game just isn't fun until the player reaches a fair level of competency. When I bought VF4, I went in with the mindset that I was going to take my time and learn how to play. I would slowly incorporate different techniques over a period of weeks. When I bought TTT for the PS2, I just started playing with Baek and Eddy and was able to do bad ass looking shit right from the get go.
