I have a rule with any tv show I plan on watching.
I watch 1-3 episodes (depending on how long it is, if the first two episodes are part 1/2 of it) and decide if I like at least one main character. If I do, I keep watching.
With Gotham it was a mixture of Harvey/Fish/Selina/Alfred

Basically if I'm not interested in 3 episodes I drop it

Fish was my favourite character in it tied with Selina.
A lot of people hated Fish but I never got why.

Season 1 is probably the weakest since they weren't sure what to do with someo f the characters. I think one of the writers said they kept forgetting Selina was in the show and had to remember to write her in to keep viewers aware of her
