While others come off easily?

Just got done with an hour long battle with a stubborn windshield sticker. Wouldn't peel off, ultimately had to use alcohol and scrape it off bit by bit

Well I'm done with it now but just got curious why some stickers are so hard to remove while others just come right off. Two other windshield stickers were really easy to peel off

There's various different qualities of stickers and labels. When you say it was stubborn to get off do you mean that it would only come off in tiny little pieces a time?

Yeah. I had to scrape it off slowly, almost like scratching one of those lottery cards, only more difficult and slower.

Then there were lots of little scraps that fell all over my dashboard and seats which I had to vacuum up afterwards.

kinda wish everyone just used those easy to peel stickers. They stay on just fine so why go with something harder to remove? I wonder if they're more expensive or something, but that seems like such a minor expense

Some people want stickers for business(or other personal reasons) that they don't want to come off easily over time.

Usually you can get stickers to peel off easier after heating them up with a hair dryer.

IIRC state inspection/emission stickers are harder to peel off to discourage stealing them

True. Most garages just remove them with a wall paper scraper or some other tool with a razor blade. Of course they get completely destroyed when doing so.

Certain stickers and labels aren't supposed to be peeled off. Like what 16-BITTER said in post #7

It can still be done but they make it a pain in the ass to discourage people from doing it.

Also so you can't peel it off and put it on something else that it's not supposed to be on.
