Got that Castlevania collection for PS4 during that black Friday sale. I have no idea what I'm doing or where I'm going, but there's something intriguing about it even with its reputation.

What's CE's opinion on the game?

I've always liked that one. It's borderline open world, and even though most of the puzzles are nonsense it did a really good job of building intrigue and creating an interesting place to explore.

I think it's the open world-ness that's drawing me to it as I've always been a big fan of open world games. That plus the spooky atmosphere of Castlevania games really works for me. I think more games need to mix those two things together. Kind of like Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare.

This is my first serious attempt to play it. I've played it for 5-10 minutes here and there over the years, but never got past a few screens. Now I want to really play it.

And I like the options this collection gives display wise. You can change the aspect ratios and add scan lines to make it more authentically old school as possible. That's kinda cool.

It's from the Castlevania Collection. It and the others I've played seem to be their original versions right down to the slow down you'd get in NES games when there would be a lot of stuff on the screen at the same time.

And man, I feel old. I remember watching his reviews back in 2006 when he was first starting, though the C2 review was made in 04 and later released if I remember right.

That's what I'm doing. I'm trying to play it as best I can without it, but I have a walkthrough open in a tab ready to read when needed.
